The title pretty much describes my question. I'm trying to make mixed damage work and was looking at eChirrut, Finn, but then realized that Chewbacca's die is better.
Is eChewbacca, Finn or Chirrut viable?
I think that Chirrut needs more dice in the pool, so that his modified sides aren't stranded. Sadly, there's no great pairing for him... yet. If there was a hero version of FN-2199, it would be an easy choice. I don't think Chirrut's worthless, he just doesn't have any great pairings yet.
Maybe try eChirrut/eRey, and use cargo hold to move abilities from Rey to Chirrut? They still have all blue dice, so it'll help stuff like Destiny and cards that require spotting a blue character.
Oh, I wasn't sure what you were asking... do you mean pairing a single dice Finn with either one? Hmmm... that's a tricky one.
I'd say that with no way to combine Chewie's special with Force Throw, eChirrut and Finn are a better pairing than eChewie and Finn, since Finn also has mixed damage. Too bad eFinn/eChirrut doesn't work. If Finn were FAQ'ed down to two points cheaper... nope. Let's not all start begging FFG for random errata...

Yeah sorry I wasn't clearer. 1 Finn and 2 Chirrut or Chewie. If I do eChirrut, Finn and get the Awakening support out it might be alright. I can also put riot baton and stuff on Finn along with F-11D and Krennic's blaster.

I am frustrated by Chirrut. I want him to be good, but he's just confused.
Not yet, not Tier 1 at least. Chewie is working in a lot of casual decks.

Give him a try with eMothma
I played a eChirrut/Han Solo deck that was pretty decent, but this was before the release day of SoR so that probably skewed it. I've been thinking of a Finn/Chirrut (one would be elite, not sure who yet) with some Riot Control Batons. Gotta keep testing!
