My interceptor don't want none unless it's small rocks son...
I believe there's a trend for better players to bring the larger rocks? So, a rock size question.
Some knucklehead tried to diss
but his squad is a net list,
Big rocks he chose to hit em
I flew to range 1 to crit him!
You say Sabine is the thing? Well I ain't down with platt...
To the mobile arcs with the tractor beams,
you ain't it Miss Sabine,
But -1 agi, I can't resist her,
red TLs and dice didn't miss her!
I bring rigged cargo chute:
1) You have some satisfaction if you induce a stress by dropping it on him and he did not plan a green move.
2) It gets better if while he moves, he also passes through it again.
3) Joy starts to appear if he reveals a red manoeuver.
4) If the opponent also had expertise... you get close to a maniacal laugh
5) Glee is possible if a crit was inflicted
6) And finally, the greatest feeling is if it is followed by an ion blast... now that feels like being a real scum!
With a big rock in your face you rung, Boba likes rocks...
Nerf larger rocks!
Ain't talkin bout Guri
Cuz silicone parts are made for toys!
Putting those rocks down in a hurry
I find that larger rubble
Gets my opponents in real trouble,
They can't get in my Range 1 bubble
TLTs put the hurt on double!
This is an hot topic of debate among my play group, mostly because of me.
In my long and pretty successful xwing carreer, I've always found that players with high-mobility ships (ie Imperial Aces) always bring large rocks, especially if they are experienced players. They argument is: I never overlap obstacles and my ships can manouver way better than the ones of my opponent.
And I don't get it.
Yes, they usually have an easier time the first rounds of tournement if they happen to be paired against less experienced player, but as someone who has mostly flown "jouster" like list, I always had an easier time facing aces when they also brought large rocks than when they didn't.
You can have the most agile ship in the game, but once I force the engagemente in large asteroid clusters, you lose the advantage of moving last since there are only a limited amount of places where you can go in such environment and I can exploit it.
I lost the count of how many times I heard "I bring large rocks because I'm good at manouvring and won't hit them". Guess what, the guy you face in the last round of swiss is also good at that, and once you lose the option of arcdodging because the mat is clumped with rocks he's gonna get the last laugh when you are going to get shoot by a r2 target lock and focused primary weapon Ghost shot with Finn.

This is mostly cuz the Ghost is trash op large base junk. =)
I like better those debris things..

This is very likely in the case of the Ghost, but we also just had Nand Torf abusing the "rock engagement" with great success at worlds where most of his oppenents were playing some sort of aces and all brought large rocks which ultimately played at the former champion side
Depends on your list but it can be said that it is common for obstacle size to be inversely proportional to your the sum of the area of the bases in your list.
- If you have 2 large ships or are running a 8 ship swarm, you tend to want less obstruction so smaller asteroids or even debris clouds are your selection.
- If you are flying a 2-3 ship list tend to take the larger rocks.
But again this is the trend, not the rule. sometimes going against the trend can give you an advantage.
