X-Wing World Championship Finals lists- what do I buy?

Compared to X-wing 101, you'd need another $40 in this for the core set. And I disagree this is "stagnating" the meta when it came fairly out of nowhere.

You math skills are weak old man ( ;) ). . . $129.80 - $101 = $28.80

And did I misread something about the JM5K being the #1 ship for the last 4 Waves. . . ?

Oops never mind, I see what you are saying. . .you "technically" need a core set.

And  below.

He meant, you need another $40 to add a core box, because that core game is not included in the Justin Phua list.

It same old same old, the innovation is mainly that it is so darn cheap. The design team seems to aim for $200 lists as tier 1, you can follow it trough all the years, this one is extremely cheap, and technical you don't need the core set for it. Damage decks go for 2 bucks on ebay and you are allowed to share dice and templates with your opponent. ^_^

Tournament rules actually state you have to bring dice and templates.

See my edit above, templates $2.50 :)
Are third party templates legal?

BTW, now I know why we see this explosion in attack values, they want to force players to buy a third set of dice to roll those 7 dice attacks. ;-)

Yes, third party templates are legal, though they're gonna be more expensive than the cardboard ones from ebay :P. Ebay would at least save you something over a core set. Somehting like $16 or so to get the damgae deck, templates, dice and damage deck from that link, plus however much shipping comes out to for multiple items assuming it makes it cheaper. If you have to pay the $2.65 shipping seprately for each item it doesn't save you much. Still need a range ruler too.

Course, templates and range ruler you can probably get free from an existing player that has 5 range rulers from tournament prizes, at least 2 sets of cardboard templates and range rulers from core sets (1 of each core, many players have extras) and possibly acrylic ones as well

Maybe FFG can just cut to the chase and create the X-Wing: Total Domination expansion pack with 2 toilet seats, a damage deck, dice, templates and all the necessary upgrade cards for the bargain price of $139.95. Everything you need to send you friends home crying in despair that they only bought the "movie ships"--all in one cardboard box!!

So. You wanna be like everyone else huh? Interesting.

Isn't that largely how functional human societies work ?

Actually, no. One of the great developments of the medieval period was specialization. . .selecting a vocation such as blacksmith, so that you could develop your skill set to a higher level and allow others to do the same in their respective fields. That way they was less redundant duplicating of skills (let the baker make all the village's bread) allowing for increased functionality of the society as a whole.

Hi Everyone!

First time posting- I hope this is the right place for the thread!

I found this graphic of the lists used in the final of the X-Wing world championships. I was wondering what products I need to buy to be able to recreate both lists in full :)

Thanks for the help!

This is one of the whiniest posts I have seen in quite a while.

People can play the game however they want. If people want to play the lists that did well, screw it, let them. If people like the "toilet seat", let them. These boards are ******* obsessed with wanting other people to play the game the way they think is "right", without considering that everyone might play this game for different reasons.

It's just a game guys.

Your so right. I'm the only one a little bored with the JM5K being the standout element in the game.

Oh, wait. Maybe I'm not.

Or maybe you missed the part hwere he said "These boards", not "you personally and no one else"

Maybe he just wants to recreate the final match with friends, I'd get that.

I'm not sure what your trying to prove there. People want things changed. What's new about that? the meta will change again soon enough and people can complain about that meta then. So it goes.

This thread started off as a guy wanting to know fly some of the winning lists and asking about the cheapest way to go about that. Others jumped in to whine about nerfs, and netlisting, and the game getting stagnant, and pee on the rim of toilet seats.

Seriously, SimpleBut (the OP) wants to fly what he thinks is a fun list; just ******* let him instead of stomping through all the puddles you can find.

edit: and that was Simplebut's first post too! You take a guys first post and turn it into yet another carnival of groans. Please Simplebut, enjoy the game, not everyone is like that.

What is your point? You and few people are bored because you don't like current meta - we get it, you throttle about it constantly on these forums.
But this thread isn't about this. Original poster just asks what is cheapest way to build winning combination.
If you don't have anything to add in this regard just keep your whining for yourself and try not to derail thread any more.

The one thing get on my nerves are sanctimonious types who think they have a final word on saying how this game should be played "properly". Here is news for you: you haven't.

Maybe you missed the part where he specifically referenced my post as whiny.

Quite true.

And all of this is about a post about a joke product that will never come to fruition anyways.

Just because other people agree with you doesn't mean you can't be whiny. He never said you were the only one with a problem with jumpmasters.

I wasn't target (Locking)ing just you when I was referring to people whining; it was meant to encompass a wide-array of whiners.

I was targeting you with that quote, though, because it was whiny as all get out, and you were the one that said it, so I had to target you. The fact that you have now chosen this hill to die on is insane to me.

Yeah, it was very kind of you to make his point with posting a best of other whiny posts, so we can compare and judge for ourselves. ;-)

I was thinking of it more in a wider context. IMO,most human societies (past and present) rely heavily on their members obeying a set of norms and principles. When enough people don't want to be like everyone else and obey these, the society collapses.

No No - we must pounce on him for seeing a list and thinking "Hey, that list seems good and looks fun to fly!"

This is x-wing: no one is allowed to have fun or fly anything that anyone else has ever flown, ever.
