Twin Troopers: World Championship Recap (Part 1)

By dietz057, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Great write up, a few of your command card links just go back to the article itself, Blitz and the one above it.

As someone who needs to live vicariously through the message board for these events I really appreciate more details about the event itself and the surrounding experience.

I also agree that tickets should be awarded to those who are losing, not winning. The winners are getting the top prizes, the prize wall is full of left overs from quarterly kits (which the guys winning probably already have anyway) was my understanding?

I got to play against someone using your list on vassal before the tournament and I'm glad i did. He gave me a refresher on grenadier and blast 2. Did you get any use out of against the odds? Seems very situational

Great intro! And yes, going out for pizza on Thursday was a blast - thanks for setting that all up!

Thanks for the notice on the links! I'll correct those this evening.

Against the Odds is very situational, I'll admit that. I don't actually recall drawing it during the tournament. I basically included it because it was another method of getting focus tokens on my heavies, which really increases their damage potential. On top of that, it's not all that uncommon to go down by 8 against a Jedi Luke list that starts with Son of Skywalker.

However, I concede that it's not an ideal card.

Nice to see that they seem to be getting their act together for organization. I thought that the "O" in "OP" during the last GenCon was sorely lacking. Maybe it'll keep getting better.

Actually the awesome thing about the prize wall is they had lots of rare prizes like Nationals cards, and for very cheap costs. Basically, Worlds cards cost 4 tickets, Nationals cards cost 3, rare cards were 2 and common cards were 1 (and you'd get 5 per tournament and per match win). I didn't win many matches but still came away with lots of awesome prizes I had never expected to get my hands on before.

Yeah, and I didn't mean to give the impression that the prize wall has bad prizes. In fact, I thought the prizes were great. Lots of variety and stuff from all is ffg's star wars games. My problem is more with distribution. If I'm winning a lot of games, I'm not only getting tournament prizes, but also stocking up on prize tickets as well. I want as many people to want to come back next year, and I think spreading out prizes as much as possible is a good way to achieve this.

Yeah that was me! I probably could've won if I could've gotten just 1 more attack with a Heavy Trooper against your cluster of 4 guys down near that turbolift.

And I'm glad I could be of service! :o

I don't know if @brettpkelly had the luck to face an Imperial list this year. :P
