Better list for SC season between Heragator and Dash/Chopper

By Admiral Deathrain, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am debating between two lists for SCs:

Dash Rendar (36)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rey (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Countermeasures (3)
Outrider (5)

"Chopper" (37)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
"Zeb" Orrelios (1)

Total: 99

This one is build to combat scum alpha strike lists with Countermeasures and lots of hull. I expect a lot of scum alpha strikers in Worlds wake as the winning list kind of falls into that cathegory. Glitterstim is there to make Countermeasures worth it against lists that don't rely on TLs, too.

Hera Syndulla (40)
Accuracy Corrector (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Navigator (3)
Dash Rendar (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Ghost (0)

"Zeb" Orrelios (18)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
"Chopper" (0)

Ahsoka Tano (17)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Rey (2)
Captured TIE (1)
Sabine's Masterpiece (1)

Total: 100

And the dreaded Heragator. It is a very strong list, obviously, but against scum alpha strike it will be a bit of dancing on a fine line. Really depends on how big of a swing I'd expect towards worlds-copying.

Any build refinements you can think of? I am pretty sure about the Heragator list and the Dash build, but Chopper is a bit iffy. Edit: Maybe downgrade Chopper to a generic to get Ezra on there instead of Zeb?

I have not had good success with a VCX-100/Dash build. I find that the Ghost just dies too quickly and you are left with Dash vs. more than he can handle a lot of times. Of course I haven't tried it since the x7 nerf and Defenders were the bane of the list.

Any opinions on Kyle Kartan on a Hera-Lothal Rebel? Wouldn't be used every turn, but it offers a full mod on turns where the FCS locked target is dead. Focus to hit also obviously is a lot better than focus to crit when you use ABT.

im gonna give that Dash list a try, what does it mainly struggle against? Fenn Rau's pretty popular in my area.

I like list two

Really depends on who has initiative versus Rau I'd imagine. But in general any list that uses TLs to do damage, via torps or not, will not have an easy time removing Dash quickly and late game at PS9 with large base barrel roll and a ridiculous dial he is well positioned to take anything. And the alternative target takes at least two rounds to burn down and has a good dial with Hera.

Edit: I will by the way settle for this on my first run:

Dash Rendar (36)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rey (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Countermeasures (3)
Outrider (5)

"Chopper" (37)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
Cassian Andor (2)

Total: 100

I am rather curios to see how well the Chopper blocking party turns out to work.

Here's my version of Dash and Lothal:

YT-2400: · Dash Rendar (36)
Expertise (4)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Engine Upgrade (4)
· Rey (2)
· Outrider (5)
VCX-100: Lothal Rebel (35)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Fire Control System (2)
· Hera Syndulla (1)
· Han Solo (2)
-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

I've thought about Hera-gator myself, but I'm mainly looking at Cassian Andor crew instead of Dash Rendar Crew and I've gone back and forth on Autoblaster Turret on Zeb or EMP Device on Ahsoka or maybe another choice Illicit. I think EMP Device can help you escape and not a lot of people are used to it yet so opponents have a higher chance of not thinking about it when planning their turns.

But where do you need to change your dial even more than you already can? As the build stands, you dial in a 2 straight and are able to choose between all banks and straights. I can't really imagine a situation (especially with Dash crew) where that doesn't bail you out of anything.

An illicit for Ahsoka would be more useful. Feedback Arrray comes to mind or the EMP Device as you mentioned.

I think Cassian isn't just changing your dial, but also the opportunity to look at an opponent's dial. I'd say it's mainly for going up against other high pilot skill ships, particularly Fenn Rau. I get that you already can change it and Ahsoka gives you "before combat phase" boosts, but I believe gaining the information of what a higher pilot skill ship's maneuver will be can only help you. Not only better your chance at getting out of a shot, but potentially cause them to bump into you. I see the draw for Dash Rendar crew and maybe it turns out overall better, but I'll be trying Cassian first.

Took the latest Chopper/Dash list to a small tournament today and went 3-1 for second place out of eight. Glittermeasures are beautiful and made Dash tank through some tough spots. Chopper performed alright. Cassian never did much, though, and at points I missed some focus mods when burried in stress, so for the next run I will give a Lothal Rebel with Ezra at least some consideration.
