Cluster Mine Resolution Order

By StriderZessei, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Let's say an opponent is flying Fenn Rau with 2 hull. I expertly drop a line of clusters in his path before he reveals a 5 straight, template going over all three mines.

1. Should he roll 6 dice at once, or three sets of two?

2. If he rolls two hits on the first mine (or one hit and I trigger Sabine), killing Fenn, are the other mines removed anyway?

1. roll 2 at a time

2. all mines that the template/base overlaps are resolved. So yes, each one blows up.

A good reason for following order of operations here is because of sabine crew. Declare which mine the enemy is rolling for before they roll for it and do it one at a time. You can trigger sabine off of a mine as soon as the opponent roles for it and the mine is removed off the map.

Always resolve one at a time, with you and opponent getting an opportunity to resolve any relevant effects (e.g. Sabine) after each one.

When mines are triggered due to movement, you start with the first mine token crossed, and work outward along the path.

When mines are dropped on top of a ship, such that multiple mines immediately go off, the player owning the mines determines which order to resolve them in.

I do think there's a question here though.

CLuster mines are dropped on a ship with one health point, and all three minelets fall under its base. If the first mine to detonate deals enough damage to kill the ship, do the second and third mines also detonate?

I'm not sure this is covered in the rulebook.

They all blow. Any mines the template overlaps would blow too
