Weekend tournament - new list time

By Wiredin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

One thing I love about my local meta is...there is no meta. We all do our own thing which make a lot of crazy lists pretty effective. We have a bomber player, a stress player, a **** good player, thuglife.... a bit of everything. Nothing really dominates, including Paratani (never flown against it actually...)

So here are the lists I'm playing on taking to this weekends slaughter.

Jess Pava (25)
R2-D6 (1)
Swarm Leader (3)

Jan Ors (25)
Adaptability (0)
Dorsal Turret (3)
Nien Nunb (1)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Juke (2)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Snap Shot (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Went 3-1 at the last tournament with the highest MOV. I know this list pretty well, but the problem is now the locals know it well too and I'm worried about them learning my tricks.

Darth Vader (29)
Swarm Leader (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)

"Howlrunner" (18)
Crack Shot (1)

Black Squadron Pilot (14)
Crack Shot (1)

Crack Shot (1)

Black Squadron Pilot (14)

The imperial version of the above, not as punchy, and maybe not as effective, but it could be a lot of fun to fly. Has a nice "canon" feel to it too.

"Echo" (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Agent Kallus (2)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

The Inquisitor (25)
Swarm Leader (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

Darth Vader (29)
Adaptability (0)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
TIE/x1 (0)

Total: 100

Something I've been theory crafting lately.... But leaves very little room for mistakes. I feel it has good action economy, can throw some good dice out there.

Corran Horn (35)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Ezra Bridger (20)
Wired (1)
Dorsal Turret (3)
Chewbacca (4)

Sabine Wren (TIE Fighter) (15)
Juke (2)
Inspiring Recruit (1)
Cloaking Device (2)
Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)
Sabine's Masterpiece (1)

Total: 100

And...something completely different..... Who flies these ships anyways?!

I only know Rebels. How the hell do you keep Jan Ors alive in that first list? Just block like crazy with the A-wings?

I actually use Jan as the blocker! :) or keep her @ Range 3 while the rest close in. Ship deal has been in this order: Jess, GSP, Jan, GSP most of the time. If they go after Jan first I laugh all the way to the win.

I'd love to see a battle report on that list. I see what you're saying , but having flown similar lists, I'm not seeing in action .

Jess is a beast early on, but the A-wings are completely without offensive mods since they'll usually be taking evades. I would still try fly right past them and focus down Jan with her 5HP behind 2 green dice. Fenn could feasible one-shot her.

I posted a tournament report in the battle section of the forums a few weeks ago. Went 3-1 with a 547MOV. the guy who went 4-0 had a 498 MOV. I usually setup my A-Wings and Jess in an arrow formation with Jan facing the formation on the side. The A-wings/Jess move up and then Jan turns in H2 behind to bring up the rear. this formation stays until the initial joust is over.

summary:

round 1 vs old fenaroo - I setup on my left board edge, he setup for the joust. moved up slowly first round, he did the same. I then blasted forward full speed. Blocked manroo, got pair of snap shots off on Terroch (1 health remaining), Fenn did no damage, 7 dice R1 shot on Fenn... Fen died (4 crits, 3 hits). Lost Jess while trying to nail down Terroch, but the A-'s and Jan took the win.

round 2 vs Poe, Nein, Rex - went to time, killed off Poe. lost Jess and an A-Wing. modified loss

round 3 vs Dormitz/Wampa/Countdown/Sabbac - same setup, he started on the opposite corner of me. I turned in through the debris cloud once I figured the shuttle was going to overshoot me. I guessed right and he lined up his strikes in a conga line, denying actions. Wampa bumped Jess, Countdown got snapped and suffered a damage per snap, then got finished off by an A-Wing. Wampa got slapped by Jan and took 2. Jess threw out 7 dice taking Sabbac off the board. Shields stripped off Jess. Chased the shuttle till it blew up, Jess disengaged to stay alive, Wampa died by Jan. 100-0

round 4 vs Dengar/Bossk - same setup, dense asteroid cloud on his side of the board. he setup opposite corner. I moved in diagonal and he turned in the same. I moved quickly so I could keep him in the asteroids. He kept bumping and landed dengar on a roid twice! I killed Dengar before Jess died. ended up loosing Jess and an A-wing. Jan at full health and the last A-Wing at 1 HP left took down Bossk.

Jan MVP

i went back and read the full thing...nice! It's funny that you only lost to what I figured would be the weakest list (Poe/Nien/Rex).

Do you feel the Snap Shot "no fly zone" combined with potential bumps into the A-wings had a big impact?
