Trouble Settling on a Species for Gunslinger

By ArtanisNeravar, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I am having issues picking what species I want to play. I'm torn between a Clawdite for a cunning build, a Pantoran for a charming build, or a Gungan because I like the idea of a badass Gungan gunslinger.

Some extra info: I have no idea what I will spec into after gunslinger settling on a species will help decide where to.

Any advice, suggestions, or stories of awesome gunslinger characters that might inspire me would be appreciated.

I find Scoundrel to be a good second choice, because it offers more Quick Strike. Marshal and Skip Tracer are also good mixes.

Remember, Gunslinger works best with a solid initiative skill, so species with high Presence, Willpower, or ranks in Cool and/or Vigilance work well. Gungan and Pantoran are both good for that.

Scoundrel is one I'm considering. So is Modder for some tinkerer to improve my guns and signature vehicle. Or Sharpshooter to add some long gun capability. Charmer or Marshall could add some face abilities.

Decisions are hard.

Gambler for the crit adv/triumph hunting build.

Dug.

Because a dug gunslinger would be awesome.

Not as awesome as a dug RealDoll®, but still.

Start with a bounty hunter spec, then add gunslinger to a four armed species and you can use unmatched devastation for a real deathblossum. :) Between two sets of linked handguns, two sets of linked wrist-mounted hand guns a various shoulder mounted and quick draw weapons... *drool*

With fishing for triumphs, are you mostly looking at Natural Rogue and Supreme Double or Nothing?

Yea mostly all the double or nothings, but there's a lot of good face stuff too

This is a character I have started fleshing out - just loved the visual :)

Probably should have added the visual I referenced...

Well, DoN works only on Advantages, IDoN adds Successes. Both great for the Gunslinger, but only Supreme helps with Triumphs.

Besalisk idea is Double Double Weapon fighting/firearms overkill :D

There's a lot of rules/stats-based advice here already. But it sounds like narratively you're drawn to the Gungan idea, so I say go with the Gungan idea.

The narrative choice is the best choice.

We have a gunslinger in our group and he is just a human with like 3 or 4 agility. He uses a pair of heavy blaster pistols and has a few ranks in ranged light. He cuts down Stormtrooper like there's no tomorrow.

Xexto for Agility + and Four arms for sheer silliness.

Or if you want to go weird and dun care much about brawn; Chadra-Fan, 3 Agil and Int, so good for mixing Gunslinger and Modder...and the looks on the enemies faces when the tiny Chadra-fan whips out to heavy blasters and proceeds to mow them down in droves...PRICELESS!!

Every day we drift further from the light of the Force...

Why not a Twi'lek? 122223 staring stats help with social skills of Smuggler and easy to boost Agl for combat. Also free rank in Charm helps too.

Thematically cool also.
