Elite IG 88

By Torg, in Star Wars: Destiny

Has anyone used Elite IG 88 and what would a good pairing with him? I thought about using Unkar Plutt, but all yellow deck would mean a lot of event and support cards as I don't have much in the upgrade cards with dice - would be about 8 dice - 11 if I add in the likes of flame thrower and gaffi sticks, so what would you recommend?

I am liking him with FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper. you play loads of yellow weapons override them on FN for more rolls, fetch them back with IG88,

I also like how FN is still crazy good with 1 die, because let's be honest we are not running him for his die, but his amazing Weapon rolling shenanigans.

Interesting idea, the only problem atm I don't have him yet but he would let me play some a nice mix of red/yellow weapon's I do have

I plan to get a 2nd SoR box soon and if I don't get get FN 2199 then I may have to buy him for about £11

I started running him with Kylo before I got an FN, it worked okay, not ideal dice pairings but command shuttle was an interesting card in the deck.

For now, a Tie Pilot could also be an interesting choice if there is a lot of die removal in your area. Also, Friends in high places could get you a free "endless ranks".

I've played him with a death trooper, have 2 games in. I stacked my deck with cards to help me control my deck and discard pile and a couple supports with focus control so I can change his die if needed.

It can be a hair slow to get going, but after a couple turns he can be nasty. Armor plating can help mitigate damage, and then you can pick it back up for free.

I won both games, both times coming from behind. Shooty support like e web and slave 1 were beastly for me.

I was pushing around 10 damage with slave 1, e web, his two dice, and ascension gun. I had lost my death trooper at this point so it could have been much higher.

Personal shield was also great, at one point I had 11 shields.

Personal shield does not override the shield limit of (3) max on each character. Or are you talking about having (11) shields in your dice pool after rolling?

ATM am thinking about a elite IG 88 / Tie Pilot build as I have a lot of red card's and I need to update my elite Jango Fett/ Elite General Veers deck with SoR card's anyway.

Going to add amour plating, personal shield, rocket launcher and an E Web to my deck too, just need to find 4 cards that I can replace - I wish deck building was easy ;)

I don't yet have this card but I do not understand FN-2199's ability. Reading the text it sounds like this ability can only be played when you first attach the weapon, which obviously wouldn't be that great. What am I missing?

FN-2199 use the "rebate" concept in the game:

For example, you pay for the first rifle, 2 ressources, then activate FN (Roll rifle dice). Next action, you just "replace" that rifle with another rifle that cost 2, but since the original cost 2, that last rifle cost 0, the 1st rifle is discarted. Then you roll dice for the second rifle with FN ability. You can continue until no more weapon in hand (Or lack of ressources if weapon cost more in your hand).

After that, IG-88 can retrieve yellow weapon you "upgraded", in discard pile, when he rolls a special.

Oh yes, of course. I'm sorry for being so dense when it comes to the wording on these cards. Thank you for that awesome explanation, and also for the added bonus of telling me how it works with IG-88! That does sound like a fun combo.

IG-88 + FN-2199 deck looks easy to assemble, but at the end, mostly because there are very few Yellow weapon it can be harder than you think. With more gun in future expansion, probably gonna be easier:

-Thermal det. (Legend., Aw.)

-Flamer thrower (Rare, Aw.)

-Gaffi Stick (Rare, Aw. But a no go for me at the moment, doesnt fit well in deck)

-Vibroknuckler (Rare, SoR)

-The new ascenssion gun, is actually not a weapon ;)

Sadly IG-88 isn't good until December. Then, he is the boss. His dice alone are so good, his ability may just be an after though.
