Looking to get into flying scum, need help!

By MashedBROTATOES, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey dudes. I have a fairly robust collection of imperial and rebel ships, figure I would branch into scrum territory. I'm extremely casual but I'm looking for something fun to fly and competitive. With the result of worlds, would two jump masters be my best bet for just starting out with scum?

What's your favourite scum ship? That's the place to start. Then think about the pilot you want in your ship. After that you can research via quick google searches/list juggler good builds for that pilot and what other people have flown with it and whether or not they've had any success.

to answer your post though, twin jumpmasters are very good and work with a great many combinations of pilots, crew etc. Just have some emotional attachment to the lead pilot before you begin the long and arduous task of evolving a competitive build with it.

Thanks for the reply. My buddy has a jump master and I've always thought it was a rad ship. I've been wanting to fly a couple for a while now. Can it still be a decent list if my only scum upgrades are from those two?

Not from just the two sets, no. I had a quick play and I can't make 100 points of goodness, but it's not far off. But that doesn't matter, because through things like x-wing squad builder you can print the upgrade cards FOR CASUAL PLAY ONLY while you're figuring out your list and then you can borrow/buy the necessary stuff for the official cards once you've worked out what you like.

Dengaroo is the list name to search for, or Justin's world champion Dengar/tel list for inspiration.

I recently got the Shadow Caster and a Protectorate Starfighter to go with it. I've only used it a few times, but it's been some of the most fun I've had playing the game.

If you want ultra-competitive lists, I suggest looking at the expansions needed to make a list that finished high at Worlds.

I recently ordered some Quadjumpers because they look like fun and have enough jank to annoy enemies. They're really a blank canvas that can fit into most lists, it seems.
