I noticed you can buy Skirmish Map Mats. On them obviously is a map but then on the screen it looks like there is a really small map printed next to the main map?

Couldnt work out what it was or what its for?

The mini map shows the location of terminals and objectives you can put on the main map for play

The smaller maps shows deployment zones and setup points for doors and objectives.

Do people actually use these then or just as ell sticking with the tiles?

It depends on how often you play skirmish and play in tournaments. The ability to quickly roll out a map for a tournament is especially nice rather than having to pull out tiles and tear them down.

I know that it seems that a lot of the Atlanta meta picks them up. I'd personally like to see them go to a thinner material that can be sold cheaper. $25 per map that is going to rotate out is a bit much.

The last tournament I was in I just put the maps together with tiles. The biggest thing with that is having them sorted. I normally have them in 4-5 ziplock bags with the map name and tile numbers needed. It seems to go quicker than having a big pile of crap to sort through. And if my opponent has a mat, it's just that much easier. :-)
