Store Championship::Pick The List

By mrrob143, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've got 3 lists, 1 for each faction lined up for store championships. I'm looking to spice things up and bring something perhaps a little unusual. I was hoping you guys could help me point out positive match-ups and where I'll be fighting an uphill battle the most. Without further ado, here are the lists.

It's not wise to upset a Wookie… ( 100 )

Chewbacca (TFA) — YT-1300 42
Rage 1
Inspiring Recruit 1
Kanan Jarrus 3
Tactical Jammer 1
Ship Total: 48
Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25
R4-D6 1
Integrated Astromech 0
Ship Total: 26
Captain Rex — TIE Fighter 14
Ship Total: 14
Bandit Squadron Pilot — Z-95 Headhunter 12
Ship Total: 12

The idea is to get all the other ships shot first and let Chewie get several rounds of multiple (modified) attacks in. I'd probably present the Z early and at a distance from the rest of the fleet as a blocker and early sacrifice. Everything else lets Chewie live longer and or get more attacks.

Double D's ( 100 )

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Adaptability 0
Kylo Ren 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 53
Captain Oicunn — VT-49 Decimator 42
Predator 3
Anti-Pursuit Lasers 2
Ship Total: 47

Haven't seen much of the double Deci's lately, and I think this one is unique. RAC still imitates an arc dodger or lays down some extra pain with Kylo when an opportunity presents itself. Oicunn is one of my favorites, presenting free damage or a great way to make the opponent alter their flight path.

Denar is a Bossk ( 100 )

Dengar — JumpMaster 5000 33
Adaptability 0
Extra Munitions 2
Plasma Torpedoes 3
K4 Security Droid 3
Unhinged Astromech 1
Guidance Chips 0
Punishing One 12
Ship Total: 54
Bossk — YV-666 35
Fearlessness 1
Cluster Missiles 4
4-LOM 1
K4 Security Droid 3
Scavenger Crane 2
Guidance Chips 0
Ship Total: 46

Probably the most mainstream list of the group. There are lots of variables to play with, and I've had a hard time nailing down the most ideal setup. This version has a pretty good alpha and potential to turn it into a several round volley.

So friends, allies and Bothan spies... What do you think? What should I take to Store Champs?

You have three rather interesting lists here!

I love the idea of the Rebel one: with TFA Chewie I'm always stumped how to both keep him alive and have his ability trigger enough to be worth it, and this definitely does that. That being said, the other three ships are really very weak, and if they go down too fast (which they very likely could), I feel like Chewie will be in hot water unless his shots upon their deaths were really good ones.

I don't personally like the Double Decimators. I don't think either of them will have enough to really make it stick. RAC has too many action options, AKA not enough for it to be worth it. Oicunn doesn't quite do enough. RAC might like Predator, and to be paired with Kylo in the Upsilon. Overall, I respectfully think this should be your third choice.

Dengar doesn't need adaptability, I'd put something like PTL or Expertise on him, especially considering you'll want to be hitting greens for the K4. I feel like the torps are good, but could be ditched if you wanted to fit some longer lasting upgrades. I think Bossk wants some sort of crit guarantee, maybe even Calculation. Again, cluster missiles might be underwhelming on him, though scavenger crane and GC definitely make them more interesting. Also, on a ship like him, being ionized is not a fun thing.

As they stand, I think with the one tweak to Dengar and a couple tweaks to Bossk, you've got your best list, then the rebels, then the imps.

Good luck!

Ive played the exact "Angry Wookie" list a few times. I ended up switching Rage/Kanan/Recruit out for Expertise/Nien Numb. There was just too much bumping going on stopping chewie from taking actions, and I always had to try and find a clear path. Where as with Expertise, you can just slam into the Z or Rex if you need to. Also, I dont like leading out with Chewie, because a ship like Dengar can slam into you to shoot biggs and you get no shot back. So I swapped tactical jammer for Evade Title. Evade + Rex after Biggs goes down is quite annoying for your opponent and increases the chance they go after Rex once Biggs drops.

Dengar/Bossk is probably the best list. Ive faced a Manaroo/Bossk in regionals. I was able to get my entire squad behind Bossk while only taking two damage. That will be your problem, and probably the reason Phua took Tel to Worlds instead of the lizard. Slow lists like Arcs with Biggs and stuff you should be able to erase a ship with Bossk. Miranda's can slam passed you/into you, then Bossk is screwed. Burnout Slam might be a better option than scavenger crane? I think teh Dengar with Adapt is a good counter to other Dengar builds, able to PS Kill them, and a possibility of b-rolling out of their arc. It just wont hit as hard.
