New Imperial Doctrine Brute Force?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

Brainstorming:

Scimitar Squadron Pilot 16, Unguided Rockets 2, Lightweight Frame 2, Proximity Mine 3, Extra Munitions 2 = 25

Basically, you take 4 Bombers with Rockets and bombs inatead of 5 with Rockets. There's a lot of room for variation with the bombs you take as well. You could take a mix of reveal and action bombs, you could drop Extra Munitions to get more expensive bombs. Deathfire can be one of the 4. The bombs give control and let you damage things in unconventional ways to make up for the action requirement on their main attack.

It's not a K-wing bomber list, it's a hybrid between that and a jousting list.

Too bad Zetas are 23 points. You can't do 4 Zetas and an Academy.

What if TIE/SF were -2 points and the title was 2 points? Oh well again it is too late to change that. But again if you could take 4 Zeta Specs without title and and academy pilot would that have been broken? Probably should be for another post.

I think is because we can use 4x zeta specialist with accuracy corrector + title :)

How bout just pushing lots of face-up damage cards for brute force?

Something like:

Rexlar ,X-7, Swarm Leader, MKII

Tomax Bren, shuttle, CrackShot, OpSpecialist, Intel Agent

Black TIE SnapShot

Black TIE SnapShot

You can feed some serious focus tokens and red dice to Rexlar with 2 Snap Shots as well as a PS8 Tomax who can fire before him also.

How about this? I've been thinking about running this for a while but don't have 3 Punishers :)

Swarm - Punisher Alpha (744) (100)

"Redline" (36) - TIE Punisher
Accuracy Corrector (3), Extra Munitions (2), Cluster Missiles (4), Guidance Chips (0)

Black Eight Sq. Pilot (32) - TIE Punisher
Accuracy Corrector (3), Extra Munitions (2), Cluster Missiles (4), Guidance Chips (0)

What do you think about double SF+Defender?

Quickdraw - VI, Title, LW, FCS

Backdraft - VI, Title, LW, FCS

Vessery - VI (or Adapt./ScoreToSettle+MK2), x7

Quite alot of beef, lots of firepower, high PS, TLT might be a problem, bombs are not.

Again, 3 ship lists. TLTs would be a problem also with high PS as I said High PS on all ships don't seem to be working. Try only 1 with high PS then others to act sort of as a grinder/blocker. As of now Fen Rau is king of the PS game, Now that the Soontir/Palpatine dynasty has fallen I don't think Imperials can match Scum on the PS game. Got to play a different game if you want to win.

Well if pilots were 1 point cheaper and title cost 1 point you would have been able to do either or. Again my personal issues with some of the Wave 9 designs but as I said before. That's for another thread. It just keeps coming up here because TIE-SF is a ship that can fit the Brute Force build in a way.

I've been having a good run on Vassal with (x7/4xIn) as list, sometimes trading out the x7 for Kagi+Baffle.

My biggest loss so far (at least against typical midlevel vassal lists) was against a AdvS Corran. Killed his support easilly enough, with better than half my list left, but I was stuck in the "block and kill" mentality that didnt work on an advance sensor 3 agility regenerator.

Might try

  • Scimitar Squadron (x4)
    • Unguided Rockets
    • Light weight frame
  • Academy Pilot

Might be a close approximation to the Imperial Version of BBBBZ.

I tried a wired rainbow range with TIE Shuttle, Tact, Mercanary Copilot (so every range had some sort of attack bonus). It didn't do too well.

But I am all for ScimitarZ Mirror of BBBZ.

Well, my 4 interceptr x7 list got slaughtered last game... by soont, carnor, and royal guard.

Good thing I dont see them much anymore...

Maybe TIE Interceptors aren't the way to go, even if there are 4 of them in a 5 ship list.

Still After the TIE Avenger I wan't to try out that 4 Scimitar w/UGR+LWF and an Academy Pilot.

2 Omega Specialists with fire control and target synch + 2 Alpha sqaud pilots with auothrusters

The omega's fire their six die volley, get locks, Alphas fire their six die volley, spend the Omega locks
