Is there any Star Wars Armada player in Vietnam?

By Peter Hoang, in Star Wars: Armada

HI guys,

I'm wondering if there is any player in Saigon. So far there are me and a boardgame shop owner play Armada and X WIng and I really want to grow the community.

We usually play in district 1. Just let me know if you are in town.

Hope to see someone.

Bumping for visibility. Hope you find some extra players! If not, consider Vassal for internet play.

Thanks WuFame. I have never tried Vassal before so if there is no chance to find anyone then I would likely to go there.

It is so hard to find players over here. Not to mention, it seems like I'm the only person in the entire city that collect and play armada... pretty lonely... :(

That sucks, friend. There's a lot of Vassal people on the forums that I'm sure would love to help you get set up and learn how to use the software

At the very least maybe you could get some games in on Vassal while you continue searching for others in your local area.

I am in the same boat. Live in Japan and it is only me and one other that plays. He decided to stop playing so I moved over to Vassal and Table Top Sim for my Armada needs. I have not had much time to play as of late but will try to get a few games in this weekend

I thought "Saigon" was renamed to "Ho Chi Minh" city following the Vietnam war?

Good to see players from other SEA/Asian countries but it's also a bummer to be one of only two people who plays Armada in Vietnam. Star Wars and tabletop gaming doesn't seem to be big there, is it?

It's possible that there might be others who play the game but don't go to the local store or lurk in gaming forums like this. You need to get them out of their homes and in the game stores. Maybe try to get your LGS to organize a weekly SW TT games night and see if anyone turns out?

If all else fails there's Vassal at least although it's not quite the same as playing with actual plastic spaceships.

BTW, I'm from Singapore and we a have decently sized community here. Not near as popular as X-wing, but we're pretty active and growing slowly.

I wish Japan had a game shop for table top games. I am on a US Navy base and the love for Star Wars is strong. Just not table top game strong.

Yep you are correct. It is now Ho Chi Minh City. But for many Vietnameses, it is still known as Saigon

Thanks for the suggestion man. That is why I'm taking my chance by posting a topic in this forum so that someone may notice and I can drag him out. Me and the other guy plays X WING & ARMADA at his store on weekend to promote the game, many stop by to watch but no one pick up the games. Star Wars is rarely mentioned here in Vietnam. I know about Star Wars since I was 10 and very happy to be part of the community. Vassal might be the final solution to my Armada.

Thank you all guys.

I cannot recommend Vassal enough. When I was on Arizona, I was in the middle of nowhere. The closest place to play was an hour and half away. Vassal let me play as much as I wanted. It you hop over to the Discord server (does someone have the link readily available?), we have a looking for group channel dedicated to Vassal.

This is the link Ard posted a while back in this thread.
