Venator Star Cruiser

By Zeoinx, in Star Wars: Armada

Does anyone else want an official Venator Star Destroyer for both Rebel and Imperial Fleets? Allow it to be a Command ship and have a higher crew capacity compared to other ships, but low attack and defense, forcing you to keep it well protected, to give buffs and actions for other units.

Mainly thought of this because of how I enjoy them when I play Empire At war with my fleets as my personal command ship.

Paging @Gottmituns205 ....

.... @Gottmituns205 to the Venator thread, please....

Has this been disscussed before? Im late to the party?

Well i'm not Gottmituns205, but i AM a proud member of #Team Venator :D

It's been discussed quite often before Zeoinx, but feel free to join the party :)

>.> well based on the titles, apparently i am on the right track.... Duel Faction CHECK, People wanting them CHECK... well then, i covered all the bases for recent post!

*Facepalms*

Maybe i should go into diablo 2 to necro one of the older threads?

Mostly people want it just as an Imperial design, though. Just so you know. And knowing's half the battle! Yo joe! :D

Yeah, you're not alone. These threads always devolve into arguments into how the Venator should be statted, so if you want my opinion PM me or search some of the other threads Dras helpfully linked. *Returns to furiously crafting anti-Acehole list

Well I dont really care who side it really releases as, as I only really want to play Campaign style games anyway, or throw it on a shelf. The thing with FFG models i like is they are painted, and High quality, so my shelf demands new ships that I want! And the Venator is one of those ships that just makes such a great display piece, and yet could add a lot to a campaign game if you wanted to start near the early days of the rise of the empire.

If desires moved policy at FFG, the Assault Gunboat would have been made in X-wing many waves ago.

You would think it would, FFG see's all the desire to BUY such products, and yet....they sit on there hands where they could be banking off our nerdy desires...

FFG, dont you want more money? *waves wallet into the air above them* Come on FFG, Come get the money, all you gotta do is give me a Venator!

You're going to buy whatever FFG puts out anyway, because you love the game and want the latest expansions, whether you strongly desire the ship or not, right?

Waiting so many waves in X-Wing for a beloved legends fighter that gets passed up for two of the stupidest starfighter designs in Star Wars has taught me never to put my hopes into seeing specific craft in a Star Wars FFG minatures game. I just have to hope someday those ships will come to us, and buy through Shapeways those ships that I will never expect to see depicted by FFG (such as the Strike Cruiser and Nebulon-B2).

Actually no, if I dont like a ship, for whatever reason, I wont buy it, a good example is the latest wave for x-wing. There isnt a single ship in that wave I give a rats *** about. All of them to me arnt worth the money, as i wouldnt even want them as display pieces. Other examples is I prob wont ever fly most the bounty hunter ships, with the exception of Slave One..., and I wont ever field the Lancer, just dont like the design again, and E-Wings prob will never enter the table either, same reason. Hell, Id sooner trade most of those ships I just mentioned just so I could get more x-wings or even Imperial Shuttles, or something. Or just sell them to someone straight out so I dont need to even OWN them.

Just because it has Starwars AND FFG on the name, isnt enough to buy it, it still needs to interest me. I mearly point out the quality of the models and paintjobs is with FFG. Even for the ships I dont carefore, they at least were made well.

Thing is we haven't seen the Venator still in Imperial service. It makes sense that it would be as we've seen the Arquitens still in use and the Victory is still around, but its possible they were scrapped to build the current fleet of ISD's. Question is what roll would it fill? I think they should have went with the Ven instead of the VSD for Armada. Longtime EU fans know the VSD from various media but it appears the Venator took its place when they finally added Clone wars content.

As one of the proud members of #teamvenator, I have to comment on this matter. again. I love the venator. best ship by far. It's an imperial carrier. as for seeing it, look to just about every new cannon novels. Tarkin, Thrawn, catalyst, and many more. Since the arqui came out, the venator would be a bigger one with more guns and a bigger hangar.

The K-wing is THE most stupid fighter.

What's the second most stupid?

TIE Punisher (or Interdictor): Literally TIE Copy + Paste. This thing originated in Star Wars Battlegrounds to create a "stronger" TIE Bomber. "Add more pods!"

TIE Aggressor: "An Imperial Y-Wing? Uhhh... hey I know, let's put a turret on the back of a TIE Advanced! Different? Um, let's cut the wings! Yeah, that's good. Nobody will ever notice. Genius."

Imperial Venators are in the new Thrawn novel, which is canon.

Venators are all over the new books. Thrawn, and I believe Tarkin and Catalyst. Basically they were in imperial service a ton during the early empire. V-Wings too.

Also in Rebels Tarkin has a small Venator on display in his office- so technically we have SEEN one recently.

Remarkably, the Strikefast was originally a Victory -class Star Destroyer in the original Mist Encounter short story talking about Thrawn's origins. For the new novel, this was changed to a Venator .

Curious how the LFL story group requested this change, as if they want to downplay the VSD? Tarkin is the only new source of canon where the Victory is described... and apparently the only one to date.

It looks like Jar Jar Bink's head, why would anyone want it in Armada

I want so many ships that played a vital role in the galactic civil war before the ventator. Dreadnought, Carrack, MC40s, Strike Cruisers....

However I still would like to see CIS vs. Republic Armada someday.

'Cause they want to see it go down in flames?

I propably wouldn't have bought a core set with a Venator. Give me Civil War Era and (reasonable) EU stuff please; no Prequel junk necessary, thank you very much!

our venator...who art in space...carrier be thy name...thy emperor come, thy will be done, on kuat as it in heaven...give us this day, our daily swarm....
