Newest Episode is now live!

Episode 5 - Let Sleeping Lions Lie

We discuss the Facebook stream, Lion previews, and the merits of Clan Loyalty

Hey guys, love the podcast (except for the ramdom phoenix bashing ?)!

Quick question: where did you get the idea that you need to spend extra fate to keep attachments arround? I've seen absolutely nothing to that effect..

I had a clear memory of Jade tetsubo having fate on it. But looking, I think you're right. I will take not and we will address that next episode. Thank you very much for keeping us honest and correct!

I feel bad for liking the first episode now. ;)

?

I was totally not reminded of this with the latest podcast, but I have a (poor) defense of the Phoenix.

I really like Magic, and they aren't Crane or Spider.

Episode 6! - WWTD

Where in we talk about most the most recent spoilers, the Lion story "The Price of war" and Rob and Greg into an argument more heated than it should be!

In the interest of more community involvement, The Table is Yours would like its listeners to send in their questions. If you have been listening the last couple, then you know that Ben has a question prepared to start the ball rolling. I would like to receive questions from you guys and we answer one at the start of ep 7.

I have two questions. One Fun, one serious-ish

1.) Everyone has their clan Loyalties. So my question is, if for whatever reason you could not play your clan, which clan would you be playing?

2.) With two fictions released there has been some back and forth about are things to similar to the story we had before, just with small changes. What is the table's opinion on this, and where would you find the right balance between familiar and different going forward?

I've only listened to the beginning of the latest episode but I wanted to come to defense of the Phoenix. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Yogo Junzo, a scorpion open the first black scroll giving rise to an organized shadowlands. In fact the shadowlands faction was originally called Yogo junzo's army. And the Phoenix may sacrifice their souls to the taint but at least they didn't lead a shadowlands army into the empire.

The Phoenix have their faults but unlike the scorpion or the crab, the Phoenix haven't led a shadowlands army

Wasn't Yogo Junzo a Phoenix to start? ;D

Yogo Junzo was never a Phoenix. He was the son of the yogo daimyo and cousin to a soshi. He was the current yogo daimyo when he opened the scroll

Ah you're right I know the Yogo family used to be phoenix. I mistakenly thought it was him and got kicked out.

Yay story reboot.

So, I have a couple things to mention regarding you guys province discussions:

The first is regarding why Endless Plains even has a strenght: it's reaction does not seem to be a forced reaction, which means you can choose not to trigger it and just defend it instead.

The second is that you guys got the element of Mori Kuroi wrong twice. ? It's a Void province.

Link for Ep 6 seems broken? Links to pinecast login page.

Accuracy is subjective. =P thanks.

PS: As a new player with an identity in construction I haven't really felt apt to come to the Phoenix's defense.

That said, the way some of you talk about the Phoenix did suddenly remind of a story I found in my researches: It was about Isawa Uona (pre-Master of Air) visiting the Kaiu Wall and being utterly humiliated and ridiculed to the point of tears, but making no retort. Then one day the screams of scouts were heard in the horizon as they were porsued by an equally large group of Oni. The Oni them proceeded to catch up and mutilate the scouts as the powerless Crabs watched in the distance, trying to reach them with their arrows to no success. Uona flew from the wall up to where the Oni were, imobilized them with currents of wind, sent them flying in a hurricane and then went on to care for the scouts. The Crab shut up after that. ;)

I always liked that one.

A rare example of an Isawa doing something without either being preachy or doing something ....questionable.

Except for Isawa Kaede of course. If Rokugan had Sunday School teachers she would have been one.

Throwing this out there again. Most tod the story for Table Tales 2 is done but need a voice for Matsu Tsuko from the latest story, The Price of War. If interested, please dm me

Was totally not guilted into donating 5 dollars into the podcast.

Episode 7 - 7 on Call!

So, I did wonder where the name of the podcast came from, but then it was explained in another podcast! (I think it was Focus, Focus, Strike? Which was a name I think you guys explained...) So it's fine now.

Episode 8 - Actual Cannibal Togashi Labeouf

We discuss our thoughts on the Dragon as a whole as well as the most recent story The Rising Wave

Please ask your questions to be answered at the beginning of the next episode!

I kind of want you all to do a live play of Rokugan High with that premise.

Also, minor clan I want back is the Badger.
