Flimsy packaging?

By Polygon, in UFS General Discussion

Did anybody else getting a box of Flash of the Blades notice the packaging being really, -really- flimsy? Like, barely having to touch the packs to open them, being able to see the back of the last card through the plastic wrap easy, and the name of the first card if you looked more carefully?

I'll say more if I get any enlightening responses. =|

We had issues with being able to see through the Deadly Ground boosters, but I quelled that rebellion early.

Not so much with the new stuff though, sorry. Was it just that one box?

Two boxes.

It's the early days of Magic: The Gathering all over again!!!!

But I think we got that problem fixed now.

Well maybe the packaging will slip like 9 defenders into one pack making someone a very happy camper.

That's not really the point. I have reason to believe my merchant opened/looted the boxes, then repacked them using counterfeit sleeves. But I didn't want to even suggest that before I knew whether Fantasy Flight had simply made some packaging that was that crappy.

If that is the case report it to Steve or Paul immediately .

Counterfeit sleeves? That sounds like a lot of work for repackaging boxes to sell for a few bucks a pack. I am curious though what your reasons for thinking they might be doing that.

Probably to cut down on packaging costs. It's already bad enough they had to raise their MSRP to $3.99 from $3.69 (hey, 30 cents is a big difference!) so they must be trying to do a lot on their end to save a few so that they can continue to publish. I wouldn't be surprised if there are changes like this throughout FFG's board games and LCG's as well.

I understand that the packaging changed recently, but the question I was asking is why polygon thinks his local retailer may have opened the boxes then repackaged using counterfeit wrappers.

If it's an consulation to the OP the packs are pretty un-random even from FFG. My scout showed me a trick with packs of Cutting edge. Under the rare the first 4-5 cards will have Order, and the last 4-5 will have Evil.

i have definately noticed junky packaging. and the cards also often have a string of symbols.

Considering every other card in that set had one of these symbols, it's not exactly the hardest thing to prove.

thank you hatman, the truth often makes me lol.
