No worries, I realize that I put this a bit weirdly and was all over the place in that post. Shouldn't have snarked so much back at you, this topic kind of gets me down.

Was what said German player did THE SAME... EXACT SAME?
I believe in the instance of the german player from Worlds 1 was caught cheating... He wasn't SEEN to cheat by however many hundreds of people were watching the stream and the thousands and thousands that have watched the replays. A 1 year ban would have probably done him a favor, as I doubt he'll be able to play again.
Yeah a 1 year ban and immediate DQ would have been appropriate, now he is going to be a pariah in the community, I doubt any TO is going to want to have to deal with the attention in an event.
Decision was made, most likely bad one, but live with it. It sucks but please let the forum move on. No more this! World's are over but world not!
No where in the current Rules Reference, FAQ, or Tourney Rules. Does it state that an opponent can't pick up an look at their dials. The only thing is a reference to cheating in general. So by the "letter of the law" other than him changing the dial he was within his rights.
Now I remember reading a phrase somewhere that stated "After the Planning phase, if a player wishes to look at one of his dials, he must inform his opponent first. Manipulating dials after the Planning phase will not be tolerated."
You know where that was? The X-Wing FAQ 3.02 3.27.2015. On page 6 under Competitive Play. Where is all this in the Current FAQ? Nowhere to be seen.

I don't believe anyone is questioning his ability to pick up and check his own dials, I encourage my kids to do it when we play but I also ENSURE they tell their opponent before they do it. Changing the dial is cheating, simple.

I'm aware of the ban the player in Worlds 1 received but I don't actually know the circumstances around it. Some other people have said he did the same thing as this most recent incident. I'd like someone that's actually aware of what happened to clarify what took place (since we don't have video of it.......). I believe this years incident did take the player in question to the final day (5-2) and I'll be honest, I don't think he should have made the cut but if he'd been DQ'd would that have caused problems for other opponents MOV and SoS calculations and also pairings?
Still no ban..... He confesse, same as the other punished player. Totally understand Cool Ffg
