New unit upgrade expansion

By Keithandor, in Runewars Rules Questions

I just got the unit upgrade Command expansion.

When you up grade a unit with a command ,do you just stick the figure in the front rank ?

For example , if I use the "Eagle-Banner Bearer" , I just put the banner bearer in the front rank , and he can be killed by "Accuracy" hits ?

Correct. Rule 38.1 under "Figure Upgrades" instructs you to put the figure corresponding to the upgrade card into the front rank of the unit you are equipping the upgrade onto.

38.6 also supports your statement that accuracy results can be used to assign damage to figure upgrades, even if they are not in the back rank. One thing I want to clarify, though, is that the accuracy itself does not assign a hit. Rather, if your opponent rolls an accuracy result, he can spend that accuracy to target one of your figure upgrades. Now when your opponent assigns damage to your unit, he may choose to assign damage to that figure upgrade instead of figures in the back rank (See Accuracy, pg. 6).

Lucky. You've pretty much got it right. The rules for using Figure Upgrades are on page 11 of the Rule Reference Guide.

Is there anyway that you'd be able to take pictures of the unspoiled upgrade cards and post them? A lot of us would love to know what's in that box.

"RRG, pg .11:

38 Figure Upgrade
Figure upgrades are a type of upgrade card that also adds a unique figure to the unit.

38.1 Figure upgrades are denoted by a silhouette of a figure in the upper-right corner of the card. When a unit equips such an upgrade, the plastic figure associated with that silhouette is slotted into that unit’s front rank, replacing one of the figures from that unit.

38.2 Each figure upgrade has its own defense value that is separate from the default figures of that unit. A figure upgrade’s defense value is shown in the upper-left corner of its upgrade card.

38.3 While a figure upgrade is equipped to a unit, the figure that corresponds to that upgrade must be slotted in that unit’s front rank, replacing the default figure that would otherwise be slotted there.

38.4 Upgrade figures can be assigned damage like any other figure in the unit, using the upgrade’s associated defense and wound threshold in place of the unit’s defense and wound threshold.

38.5 All defense modifiers applied to a unit also apply to figure upgrades equipped to that unit. 38.6 Attackers can assign damage to figure upgrades that are not in the backmost rank by spending one or more accuracyicons during attacks.

38.7 When a figure upgrade is destroyed, either through damage or other game effects, its upgrade card is discarded, and its figure is removed from its tray. Then, the figure upgrade’s empty slot in the front rank is replaced with another figure from that unit that could be assigned damage following normal rules.

• If there is not a figure to replace the figure upgrade’s empty slot, that slot remains empty."
