Attanni Salad (A different take on Mindlink)

By Eruletho, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, I'm always about 3 months behind the meta, as I dislike the idea of chasing net lists and using other people's successful lists as my own. As such, I have only recently started playing with mindlink. The other night I had a semi-misadventure with Fenn Rau, 2 Mangler Scyks, and N'dru. While I won, I learned that trying to K-turn various pilot-skilled mindlinked pilots is nearly impossible to plan out correctly. I determined that I wanted to run more turrets with the same general idea (maximize number of mindlinked ships) and came up with the following:

100 points
Palob Godalhi (27)
HWK-290 (20), Attanni Mindlink (1), Twin Laser Turret (6)

Kavil (31)
Y-Wing (24), Twin Laser Turret (6), Attanni Mindlink (1)

N’Dru Suhlak (18)
Z-95 Headhunter (17), Attanni Mindlink (1)

Tansarii Point Veteran (24)
M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor (17), Attanni Mindlink (1), “Heavy Scyk” Interceptor (2), “Mangler” Cannon (4)

Basic idea is to keep N'dru on his own as a flanker while the Scyk comes in from the back, eventually trading places with the two turrets that are swinging up the side. Any idea on improvement would be appreciated

If you want a Z95 for Mindlink try Kaa'to Leeachos. He can take a focus from a friend and replenish it with mindlink. This leaves you with 2 points for something else. Maybe an R4 Agro on Kavil. Overall it is a solid idea imo

I had a build similar to this before the R4 Agromech nerf. Kavil w/ Blaster, running with Leech & Palob. Idea was to stack tokens on Palob, use Leech to pull them from the Crow, all to fuel Kavil.

To that end, I do recommend either Dorsal or Blaster for Kavil. 4 dice is nice on the TLT, but his damage potential is much higher than the TLT gives him credit for. Optionally, you could forgo the extra damage in favour of control, and pick up an Ion turret.

On a separate line of thought, you could keep Kavil's TLT so he can plink away from a distance, and drop Palob's TLT down to an Ion or Blaster turret himself. Palob has to be within Range 2 to get his ability to work, so keeping him beyond that range is a waste of his potential. Putting a Blaster Turret & K4 Security Droid on him would cost only one point more than an entire TLT, and be a lot more accurate.
