Speculation - Booster Pack Contents

In AGoT 2.0, what do their packs look like?

2 Cards for each House (8 Houses) plus 4 Neutrals, all 3x. The cards can be anything (characters, locations, attachments, etc.) there is no pattern, but are kinda relevant to the progressing story.

Then I imagine we will get one each for Dynasty/Conflict per clan, and the rest neutral, with maybe a new stronghold occasionally instead of a neutral. Netrunner was the same.

Typically 60 cards, 2 cards per faction (3 of each card), 4 neutral cards.

The only thing I don't like about the FFG model is at two cards per faction, if one faction is weak or OP it can take several months to correct since I think development + testing+ printing= 5-6 months or so.

They test whole Cycles in pairs, so multiply by 2 or even 3.

OK.. still, that's a long time to correct a situation. Playing the weakest clan for a year = feelsbadman:(

The monthly packs will come out and there will be nothing but alt art cards from the core set. Except every 4 moths, there will be a REAL expansion with 4 months worth of cards in it! ;)

No obvious pattern to card type. I suspect dynasty packs will be similar.

1 of the cards for each faction is a character (only 1 exception in 14 packs, excluding neutrals - 'cause neutral isn't a faction). Also, 1 or 2 of the neutral cards are plots (no exception so far).

For comparison, Conquest had 2-3 cards of each faction (there were 7 factions at the start and 9 at the end) in a pack, at least 1 of them an army, or a warlord and its squad. Neutral cards were rare in that game.

I predict we will see a stronghold as one of the cards in each pack, so roughly each faction would get 1 stronghold per cycle when you account for deluxe expansions.

At first, Netrunner packs focused on two factions. So they'd have a bunch of cards for one runner and one corp, and neutrals to fill in. Not sure if that's changed lately, I haven't played in a while.

I know both Lord of the Rings and Arkham Horror have space for an entire scenario (and sometimes a short story about a new character), so this is certainly possible! Maybe this time around I'll actually be able to stay on top of the story!

I think most FFG LCG expansion packs have story or lore bits inside. I know there were a handful of Netrunner ones that did not, but from my recollection those were fairly rare. The last few cycles especially had a strong story focus even if most people didn't really care that much about it.

That's boxes, not monthly packs. Monthly packs don't focus on factions: the closest to that was Conquest packs with a warlord, but the warlord and its card took up the faction's full allotment of cards for that pack.

I speculate they will contain cards and a fiction insert.

How cool would it be, If black scrolls turn up, and there is a black scroll with the fiction in the dynasty packs!

Believe me, this is doesn't happen only with LCGs.

This is a Spider Clan player telling you ;)

That's why you just take a bad clan and play them good! :D

I wonder if there will be the equivalent of AGOT2E Agendas in the game. In L5R terms, these were Sensei-like cards that you could start the game with and gave additional deckbuilding allowances and limitations. For that other game, the faction card doubled as an "allied with" card. So, you could be playing, let's say, the Unicorn stronghold, and you could use the Lion stronghold, that turned over, told you that you could add X non-unique Lion cards. Then, there were additional non-alliance Agendas with different rules.

I stopped playing during Ivory, and being hit with Purge in tournaments was the main reason why...

It happens with MTG as well in that banning or balancing takes several months. Look at Mardu in standard format.

There's been so many things that have been banned in MtG at various times that it makes me wonder if they do any playtesting. Yes, Skullclamp is perfectly fine.

Anyways, we should have plenty of potential room in the first few 'blocks' (as in a set of those packs) for a clan to have an extra card (3) versus another. You know, just as long as everyone gets about the same number of different cards and viable strategies. Who knows? Maybe we'll get packs with slightly more cards than other games if they need to push a few extra tricks.

What about Iris Festival back in old days? Honestly, Purge was totally casual card in IvE environment, i mean it was nearly absent in T1 decks.
