Jet Troopers Fly By

By robertpolson, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

I just learned something recently and wanted to share.

"Fly-By: When you declare an attack, if the target space is within 2 spaces, add 1 blue die to your attack pool. After the attack resolves, gain 2 movement points."

The first sentence requires the trooper to be within 2 spaces. However, the second sentence triggers the ability without the figure needed to be within two space. Thus, the second sentence should be read and applied independently, regardless of where the trooper is. Apparently, this has been confirmed by FFG.

I don't know where you heard this, but in an earlier thread we got a ruling from Todd at FFG that you do need to be within two spaces to gain the movement points.

That would go against what someone else posted from FFG.

Hi again Jason!

The second part of Fly-By only awards the bonus movement points after an attack that qualifies to trigger the first part of the ability (within 2 spaces.)
This relationship between effects could certainly be clearer, and I’m looking to get it into the FAQ (though it won’t make it in the next release).
Thanks for the question. I hope that helps!
