Maximum size unit you'd field?

Having played against that very unit I can confirm it's a beast <<shudder>>

And the worst part is, you've only affected their rerolls, they still have threat of 3-5 (depending on existence of a front line golem and the stable runes you cast)!

To start reducing their threat, you have to deal 28 damage (56 with defense mod or shield wall, EIGHTY FOUR damage with both - although eventually shield wall will stop working), and that's before you take into account that once you are down to the front rank, they can start allocating damage to the rune golem, and if you do less than 4 damage the unit will just tank the hit and keep going!

Edit: this is exactly why I think MSUs will be good, but not king in this game. As units get bigger, the damage they can take grows along with them, as does their damage output and reliability. All things considered though, I think for spearmen I will look at hitting the sweet spot of 2 3x2 units. After I try out that massive brick though....

Figure upgrades would be way better than they are if that was true. The player taking the damage never decides which unit suffers it. Their opponent does.

RRG, pg. 9:
"22.1 When a unit suffers damage, the attacker—or the unit’s
opponent when the damage is not caused by an attack—
assigns damage to one figure at a time until all of the damage
has been assigned."

I stand corrected. Now I see why the front line rune golem is only 7 points ?
