New player with a quick question on debris and stress. Since a ship receives a stress token after the "Check Pilot Stress" step, does that mean the action is not lost for the current round (but still preventing you from choosing a red maneuver next round)? Is this the same for "Pattern Analyzer"? Thanks.
Debris Question
If you have a stress token, you may not perform actions, period. Stress gained from debris still happens before the action step, so you will not be able to perform an action (unless you're Tycho or have Primed Thrusters).
Pattern Analyser is different, however. That moves the check pilot stress step to after your perform action step, so assuming you didn't have stress to start with, you can take your action, then check pilot stress , then debris adds a stress.
Edited by InquisitorM"Check Pilot Stress" is the worst-named rule in the game. It is NOT the step where you "check to see if you have stress or not to decide if you can take an action." That is done immediately before attempting to perform any action. The "Check Pilot Stress" step should really be named the "Check Maneuver Color" step because it is the step in which you check the color of the maneuver you just did and add/remove stress accordingly (add for red, remove for green).
Therefore, when dealing with debris you...
- Reveal dial
- Move the ship
- "Check pilot stress" - add a stress if you did a red, remove a stress if you did a green
- Gain a stress due to the debris
- Trigger any "after a maneuver" effects
- "Perform Action" step - whoops, you have stress from the debris, no action for you!
Okay, now it makes sense. Thanks.
