This topic was raised in the Organized Play sub forum but I don't know how many of you saw it there. I would be excited to see a ranking system based on ELO or something similar to tennis. Major Juggler have you considered doing something like this? The top 50 or 100 players in the world.

Thank you! I didn't know that existed.
You are welcome! I can always use help getting data if you are interested. I get results from every OP event from store champs and up. So there is a lot of leg work involved.
I want to be a Lt. Commander! I'll let you be the Rear Admiral...Haha.
LOL I can do that if you write in and ask for a nickname. I have had to change Duncan's a few times.
So I read over the information you have and was wondering if you might consider opening up a larger allowable sample. I would think any FFG sanctioned event might be worth looking at because I happen to be good friends with one of the guys on there and we beat each other quite regularly.

Pshaw. You think I'd actually make the list?! You've obviously never flown against me!

So it is store champs and up (regionals, opens, nationals, worlds, continentals) for the express reason that I can find a list of those things and get complete(ish) data.
If I start doing just weekly store kits etc. it then becomes very difficult to accrue a truly full/ balanced data set. While also adding way more of a headache to me
I read over the information on your website. I really like the idea of the annual invitational event. Any more information on what that would look like and how it would be incorporated into the rankings?

I appreciate the effort your making. I wonder though if it might be possible for event organizers to register their events with you so it is a participation based thing and the responsibility is on them. I say this because there may be players out there which can only make it to one store championship a year but have far better win records that someone who is able to attend 3-4 a year as well as a regional events and has only the top 3 of their finishes scored. I guess I think there are a number of players out there that are really good but get overlooked due to the fact thy don't have the means to attend many, or any, of the events you track.

Looking to do this in 2018 between regionals and worlds!
That said, I am also looking at making range rulers for the top 50 after Gencon

Unfortunately that then has an innate bias of stores that report more, suddenly have "better" players. Instead I stop at store champs because that is the lowest level at which I can still find all the stores hosting and collect their data
