Anyone else would like to see the Yuuzhan Vong on screen and/or as a 4th faction in Xwing?

By Thormind, in X-Wing

Salvatore was the first misstep into the abyss. KJA was bad enough but they doubled down on the hacks with RAS.

then creating a sci fi villian race for a space fantasy series in which the heroes have become super heroes with the powers of gods.

So so what's the logical next step? Kill the Wookiee. They one guy who could offer very unique perspectives in these books due to being the 'mute' alien character that can still be down to earth when the story called for it. Face it, none of the back writers could write for chewie and just wanted him dead because it was easier than one of the big three.

the final nail was the insane length of the series of novels in the NJO, what was as it; 20?

Head hanging low, sheepishly dragging toe across the floor, I mumble "I like Drizzt. A lot."

It's ok, drizzt is a good character. He just happens to be the best thing made by a normally very bad writer.

I enjoyed the NJO. But, there are not nearly enough Vong ships to justify another faction.

Actually, the fate of JarJar was revealed. He eventually became a complete pariah to both gungan and naboo - friendless, pennyless, busking as a buffoon.

Not Enough.

HE MUST DIE!

So does many more... He became one of the most known (and loved) character of the FR lore. People can dislike RA all they want, they cant sweep away the fact hes a very prolific and popular author who sold tons of books. Some of his characters and work still influence RPG to this day...

As for the Vong, well i guess i should accept that my personal taste are not shared :(

You are seriously asking why (should we kill Jar Jar Binks)?

Some people like the Vong, (hence why this thread is here) But no one likes Jar Jar Binks!

But he stepped in poodoo, that's funny, right? And he lead the vote to give Palpatine emergency powers, that's hilarious!

I actually liked Jar Jar when I first watched the movie. Granted I was 6-7 years old, but I still don´t dislike him nowadays. THe Ewoks on the other hand, those I liked as a Kid, but grew up to hate them like nearly nothing else in Star Wars, weirdly enough.

I liked his cameo in Empires End, that was the apropriate way to handle that character. That book had Lumpy, too...

I soooo much agree with you. Only difference is i hated them from the start. They are the reason why i dont like ROJ as much as the first two movies. I mean common, you throw a f'ing small stone at a guy in armor and you knock him out?? Hey, lets put talking teddy bears in one of the most loved space saga. It's gonna be great... :)

Then why do you want him to have more screen time?

Yep that´s the very reason. Small teddy bears vs elite soldiers. And the teddys win...

No. Thank you anyway. Good day to you Sir.

I said good day! Be gone.

None of the writers wanted to kill Chewie. They all loved him. It was mandated by the higher ups.

See, no redeeming qualities.

Need to kill him.

So he can never have screen time again. As of now it is still possible for him to make a cameo. He was all in the clone wars videos. At least they didn't put him in Rebels but correct me if I'm wrong (just more reason we need to kill him).

Given that they're making movies and shows from multiple eras, killing him off doesn't guarantee he can't see more screen time :P

Yeah I'm asking why. I never really minded him that much.

Isa Darth Jar Jar gonna have to choka Sith?!

Another NOOOOO to the Vong being in X-Wing. I had stopped reading Star Wars books shortly before the NJO started, due to the amount of crap there, and hearing about the Vong solidified my decision. To echo what other people have said, they are a bad enemy, simply taking all the strengths of the heroes and going 'Nope!'.
Going back into the Clone Wars would be much better for X-wing, for many reasons: Ships have appeared in film, so are recognisable; ships are somewhat similar to existing ships, meaning you aren't introducing a whole new set of mechanics; Some clone wars ships can fit into existing factions.
