Anyone else would like to see the Yuuzhan Vong on screen and/or as a 4th faction in Xwing?

By Thormind, in X-Wing

For anyone who read the old books, i think the Yuuzhan Vong saga is probably one of the most memorable story. For anyone who has not, i would strongly advise to do so :)

The first book of the serie, Vector Prime, was written by R.A. Salvator, a well known fantasy author. Hes also the one who created the Vong. There are many elements that make the Yuuzhan so interesting and unique. Amongst them was the fact that they originated from another galaxy and came as conquerors. All their technology, ships, weapons, armors or Tools were biological. They hated non living devices like computers, droids or mechanical ships.

They were also the 1st specie the Jedi encountered that was (or seemed to be) totally absent from the force. Their weapons were resistant to lasers and their firepower was extremely high. They were difficult opponents for anyone, even the Jedi.

At some point back thenm many fans believed the Vong galaxy would be a perfect setting for Yoda's origin story. We all know it's comming... :-)

I believe this story would make an amazing movie or trilogy. For X-wing, they would make a perfect 4th faction with a distinctive look, artwork and abilities.

What do you think?

Please, no.

No. I hated the Vong so much. Everything you do? We counter it. Just because.

Plus all of their ships suck. Oh look, it's another flying rock. They would look terrible on the table.

Polite pass

The yuzhan vong will likely never happen, at least as we know it. Whatever threat the Chiss Ascendancy faces, that is a other question.

Pass. I have no love for Vong. They never felt like Star Wars.

Oh please no! The introduction of the Vong killed my interest in Star Wars books for many years. They are one of the best reasons why the EU had to be wiped.

Isn't the elimination of the Vong basically the one thing that most argue in favor of Disney's disposal of the Expanded Universe?

I didn't read any book, only summaries of them, but they seem to gather almost universal overwhelmingly negative opinions.

I never read the books but I kind of like the look of the ships (Mel's miniatures). I do also like the concept of a completely biological species absent from the force. As for how that was executed in the books I have no idea.

Dont know if we'll ever see them but I like change and new things so I'd be open to it.

What is all about the Vong?

Sorry I have no clue about EU.

I would love to see the Vong arc rewritten for the big screen. Have to change quite a lot to make them more compelling and interesting, but I don't hate the idea of some religious antitech zealots from another galaxy at war with the entire Star Wars galaxy.

No. Crystal Star was infinitely worse.

Combining the vong with the ssi-ruuk could be interesting.

Omg I just read about them. What a bunch of crap.

With major rewrites and a good deal of conceptual overhaul yes. Otherwise please keep them as far away as possible. The basic idea of an extragalactic threat greater than inner struggles is not bad, but the execution here was not really apropriate for star wars in the eyes of many people.

In my heart, they never existed. I will pass on the Vong.

From May of 1977, I was hooked/obsessed with Star Wars... until the Vong, so please... just... no.

Nope. Vong series was too long, too contrived, and was another book series that (once again) made Luke out to be not the force-user he actually was supposed to be.

I remember reading that book and Planet of Twilight (by one of my favorite authors) and cringing through most, if not all of them. I couldn't agree more.

Absolutely not. The Vong nearly completely killed Star Wars for me. Honestly, they nearly killed reading for me as a pastime. I am not rightly able to put into words how sincerely I hope they are never touched upon again.

No, not even slightly.

I don't think they're worse than the Vong, but when someone mentions terrible stories from the EU they spring to mind almost immediately. Oddly, I can never rightly remember the title of either, just the story itself and how, generally not good they are.

I actually rather enjoyed the NJO personally, but don't expect the Vong to ever show up in canon. And yes, Planet of Twilight was pretty terribad.

I tried to read the first book. I'd managed to choke down Salvatore's Drizzt books (barely), but I couldn't get past 100 pages of the first Vong book.

So ... I don't want to see them in X-Wing, no. I highly doubt they'll be re-canoned.
