Should I do a Live YouTube game against the community?

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

So for May the 4th I am thinking about setting up a game and going live on YouTube, allowing the community to control the Rebels while I play Imperials. Obviously this wouldn't be ideal, and would be an experiment but I think that if I give the Rebels a large point advantage and also the ability to simply pick their action each turn, it might end up being pretty interesting.

Notes- is only do 1 ship of any given type to facilitate easier feedback from live participants. Like - "let's activate the MC-80" will be easy to understand as opposed to "let's activate the 3rd cr-90 from the right"

thoughts? Would it be interesting?

Sounds like a worthy experiment to me.

Go for it!

Sounds like a Disaster waiting to happen.

As long as there's hijinks and you probably would never want to do that again, so sure.

This idea is totally nuts :D

the squadron play will be... interesting

I love the youtube channel and this would be dope man. Intensify forward firepower!!

Twitch plays Armada.

So would the Rebels players just collectively vote on commands and so on, or would they have a guy that can overrule them? The first seems more entertaining.

Democracy in warfare. This must be good :D

That's why I play imperial.

Btw Crabbok, I'll just say thank you for the youtube videos on Armada, I think you're doing the game a big favor by doing these and you seem to inspire people to finally get into the game.

edit: I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but hey, gotta give you credit for what you did.

Imagine the plays they'd make with Anarchy mode. CR90s uselessly spinning in place (more or less), GR-75s charging gloriously into battle and then not spending defence tokens. Hera flies into a debris field and endlessly consults the Helix fossil. The Liberty is lost to friendly fire from a swarm of random squadrons.

Obviously for maximum comedy we'd have to allow units to attack friendly units. I know that isn't normally allowed.

So it went pretty well! A HUGE thanks to everyone who tuned in and participated!

I think I underestimated the community though, because they already had a huge advantage of simply being allowed to "Pick" their commands each turn, I also gave them 1st player, and a 50 point advantage!

So yeah I got beat down! Got some good shots in though - so it was certainly fun! Will do again! Can't ever be a "serious" game though, but for a casual thing it was pretty cool.
