What do you think? Will there be a clone wars box? Maybe as a corebox with totally new expansions?

I would love to have Clonetrooper and B1, B2 and other Armydroids. And all the cool Bountyhunters and Jedi and Sith like Darth Maul, Count Dooku and Assaij Ventress. : D

Seems like FFG is steering clear of Clone Wars material. Even the ARC-170 in X-Wing included GCW pilots instead of CW ones.

But, if FFG does decide to delve into Clone Wars (outside of Destiny, which it's exceptionally easier to dedicate resources in), I'd expect X-Wing to lead the charge.

The thing is, the Clone Wars was a much bigger conflict. If we get a Clone Wars game, I'd expect something more akin to Rune Wars miniatures than Imperial Assault.

I want the 30mm-Scale Minis badly!

Someone asked the CEO about clone wars ships coming to x-wing. He definitely gave the impression that it might happen. But then x-wing is running out of recognisable ships.

Imperial assault still has to finish the original trilogy and rebels, then it'll probably be rogue one and force awakens era. I don't see clone wars material appearing anytime soon.

The young han solo movie will be the closest movie to the end of the clone wars, even pre-dating rebels. There may be some tie ins to the clone war era in that movie.

Right, I'm not saying X-Wing doing Clone Wars means that IA is next- merely that, if FFG miniatures is going to do it at all, you can expect X-Wing first.

And yeah, the plethora of content that the more popular (especially right now) GCW can still host means it probably won't be deposed in favor of a different era any time soon. Best CW fans can probably hope for is prequel material co-opted into IA- like the Nexus, or KOTOR's assassin droids.

I do think battle droids for the mercs could be neat.

Maybe FFG could make a real TableTop out of CloneWars, with realy huge armies like WH40k from GW. This would be great! : D

I don't see any reason why FFG would do that.

Out of all the star wars canon the CW era is the least popular. The other eras all tie in to active movie/tv/computer games. I'm afraid it's not happening anytime soon.

to me this would be a non-purchase, even if really done well, I can't think of anything more boring (to me) then rows and rows of the same looking figure and trooper. I even customize all my stormtroopers to be in different poses so they won't look alike. The imperial is the my least favorite to play because of that. And the characters are the most asinine and least interesting (Ahsoka would be cool, but only because she has a personality) Anakin is the most annoying and obnoxious and least likeable character in all the movies/media combined. Most of the Jedi even had little to no personality or real differentiation between them. When the game hits this level, I'll check out.

I dont can share your opinion.

From a technicaly point of view the PT and the CW-Show are bad. Bad cut, bad dialog, bad storytelling, bad direction, bad script.
But when it comes to art and diversity the PT is much better and greater then the OT.

Alone the Gunganarmy in EpiI has much more diversity of troops then the Rebels and the Empire in Epi IV to VI together. The Gunganarmy has so much diversity it could be a fraction of his own. In the PT there are not only the B1 Droids in the army of the separatist, there also B2 and B3, Droidika, BX Commandroid, IG100 MagnaDroids, the giant Magna Tri and so much more. And also the clonetroopers has much more diversity then the empire.

And if you mean most of the jedi in the PT have no personality than you are right but also Boba Fett, Gengar, IG88 or Bossk have no personality in the OT. So personality is not a reason do not make Minis or a whole game for the CW.

I hope not. Leave the clone wars out of the original trilogy please. Maybe if it will be a separate game. I don't care about prequels or the clone wars.

Thats not true! ; ) The Gungans have very diverse troops. The separatist droidarmy in EpiIII an the CW too.

I mean, "personality" seems like a pretty silly thing to argue about in a tabletop game. Not only is it pretty subjective, but it's entirely irrelevant- your pieces have as much personality as you decide to give them, at that point.

For instance, Chriseal brings up Dengar, or I assume that's what he means by "Gengar".

In one of my campaigns, though, I had earned Dengar as a villain and the Rebels earned the droids. Dengar and R2 actually had a huge "rivalry" where Dengar was able to deal out some big punishments to the heroes, but R2 was able to often stun Dengar. It was a ton of fun, and had us laughing everytime R2 managed to hold his own. As far as a tabletop game like this goes, I don't know how you'd get much more "personality" than that.

That being said, I do think that aesthetically the clone wars could be an interesting miniature game (though still not in the style of IA, but in a more traditional wargaming style). I wouldn't buy it, and I don't think it would sell all that well- but I do think it would be a good fit. It's just that, some IPs are worth investing in, and some aren't. When you have the Star Wars miniatures license, it's far more economical to make miniatures based on stuff that you know well be really well received, rather than taking a gamble- especially since, unlike card games like Destiny, miniatures games have a huge production cost.

Like with the example of the Gungan army- sure, there's variety there. But gungans leave such a bad taste in the mouths of so many fans, that I think you're already working against a hostile customer base from the get go.

I get that. I'm just saying that many of the prequel elements leave a bad taste in people's mouths. It's risky to try to throw all in with them.

As I said, I think the PT was technically bad movies. But I had the feeling that the PT is much more popular then the OT. But thats only my feeling.

And I love the PT for the art and the designs, for how big the universe feel, I love that the old Rebuplic feels like an golden Age (roman empire about year 0) and the age of the empire feels more like the dark ages of our timeline.
And I would love to have minis from all the chars, droids and clontroopers of the PT oder CW.

Again, I appreciate that you like it. But I think you're very much wrong there. They've been panned pretty hard, and even outside of the films when you're dealing specifically with aesthetics, I think the OT stuff is far more iconic and appreciated than PT. And again, good on your for liking it... but be careful not to overestimate how popular it is.

Have you tried the WOTC star wars miniatures game? Similar scale to IA, pre-painted and they have a lot of PT minis.

Also worth remembering the GW experience here. I don't know the figures specifically but there was quite a lot of evidence that said, even if adding more armies was welcomed in general, they simply didn't sell. In both Warhammer and 40k it was basically the same few armies people invested.

My bretonnian army accounted for something like 1% of Warhammer sales, before it was finally pulled.

Not to say I wouldn't like to see some of the units from the PT in the game at some point, although for now, I'm happy repainting the WOTC range and making up my own rules.

This is my thought. Why bring in First Order stormtroopers? just to have the mini? What roll would they play that isn't already covered by Stormtroopers. What roll is the Clone Trooper going to play, other than the roll the Stormtrooper plays? The game isn't granular enough to have huge variations of low cost troopers. It would simply be aesthetics, and mostly for the skirmish.

You have first order troopers so you can have TR-8R, phasma and flame troopers.

As for the generics I assume they'll appear in a campaign box and skirmish only players could dodge that box if they wanted to.

I like the design from the FO Stormtroopers but i think FO-Stormtrooper are not nessecary because the look nearly identically to the GCW-Stormtrooper.
I want new designs like the droidarmy of the separetist. ; )

We will definitely see FO storm troopers, despite the obvious similarities folk are pointing out.

Why? They're iconic, and will sell in droves. Look at how many space marines GW pumped out over the years.

It's the same issue that hits many historical miniature manufacturers. Many would love to sculpt the more unusual armies, but end up including romans, ww2 airborne, French napoleonics, simply because these are the most popular armies in those given periods.

So what other similar units do I think we might eventually see?

Rebel troopers on Scarif, despite being very similar to the sensor commandos. Again, they'd probably sell well, and there's scope for new unit cards in there.

Scout troopers in some form or other.

And of course, new versions of all the major heroes - we have Luke, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see General Solo and General Calrissian; an alternative Vader; and and possibly Leila, although I'm a little less certain on that. They'd all sell well!

Please no, I hope not. WOTC overproduced prequel minis so much that it made me sickened of all prequel stuff forever. In most of the collectible minis series, anything OT was rare, anything prequel was common, it really sucked.

If we want diversity, where are the Imperial army and navy troops? Why oh why must everything be in white armor?
