Is it time to Rank the Top #25 X Wing Players in the World?

By DocScott, in X-Wing Organized Play

Watching more and more of the open videos, I see many of the same players in these events. We all know the great Paul Heaver, but who else would you consider to be among the best players on the planet? Like golf, tennis, the community should come up with a scoring system to rank the top #25 players in the World. What do you guys think?

Great idea. I think top 50 or 100 players would be great. ELO system, tennis, etc. as you have said.

america and Canada are done and I am planning on adding the rest of the world over the course of this upcoming season.

Since I am friends with, and have about a 50% avg against #28 in the US, I take this list with a grain of salt. He has the ability to go to multiple store championships, Regional Championships, and Worlds. I personally think a system could be developed to determine a true X-Wing World Ranking System, it would just be too labor intensive for one person and would need to be something tracked by FFG kinda like the DCI system.

added which #28

Better not. Then you'd all know me, which would mean that I'd have to answer a lot of fan-mail

A elo or dci system would be ideal of course, but in the end impossible for just me to do. For now store champs and up is all that is feasible and also prevents the cries of "you are ruining x-wing with these rankings!" To an extent since they are only taking into account already competitive events. Also I have a 100% record against #1 at game nights etc. but have no delusions that he belongs where he is ;)

I think ffg sanctioned events are the only thing you could track.

Going to be hard when the World Champion 2017 doesn't have any FFG sanctioned events in our neck of woods for the past few years.
