No, they're not.

Per the rules modifying dice is:

- Rerolling

- Changing results

- Adding results

Those three things are the definition of 'modifying dice' in x-wing.

"when attacking outside your primary firing arc, you cannot spend focus tokens"

Why not have it taking up the missile slot like the Chardaan Refit? This saves on complex word play regarding titles and maybe even a negative point cost (but not -2 like Chardaan!). Then I'd word the main text to match the Royal Guard TIE "You may equip up to 2 different Modification upgrades (instead of 1).". A s previously mentioned it could also only say "TIE Advanced x1 only" for the restriction.

It would be interesting if there was an Advanced only upgrade of some sort that prevented multiple shots from one ship per round. A counter if you will mainly to TLT and also to Quickdraw, Dengar etc. Vader especially and any PTL Advance can dodge/turtle up pretty good against one single big shot or a few small ones but it sort of crumbles against a bigger flurry of shots.

The advance is pretty close to strong but is missing a little something and I would go for some sort of defense boost if I were to help it out.

It is thinkable that Vaders Fighter had a few extras, the other prototypes had not. Good idea here.

TBH I think he's not that far off the curve. If you don't put Engine Upgrade on him then 33pts of Vader with Predator is relatively comparable to 33pts of Backdraft. Just in the final analysis you get a little bit more from Backdraft, but it's closer than you'd first think.

• Darth Vader - Predator, Advanced Targeting Computer (33)
• Backdraft - Veteran Instincts, Lightweight Frame, Primed Thrusters, Fire Control System (33)

Both PS9, both barrel roll but can't boost, both have action economy (Predator vs FCS), both have automatic crits being added, Vader has one less hull but double actions to stack Evade tokens... it's not light years different. Yet Backdraft is considered good and Vader considered bad - the difference can't be much more than a point or two.

Backdraft also has an aux arc. That's why he is so good.

I thought this was real at first and was looking for the card. HA! I played Vader today and thought he was VERY weak. Figured he'd roll more than two attack dice!!!

So while I don't really think Vader needs a fix I really like the idea of him giving up an action for a second attack. It could be done through a condition or a lasting effect, probably using the missile slot or EPT but exclusive to his ship or to Darth Vader.

Cost maybe 2-3pts.

You know who needs a fix WAY more than Darth Vader? Luke. At least Vader is still decent with ATC. Luke has never, ever been any good.

Agreed on Luke sucking and needing love more than Vader as well as any Vader upgrade using the missle slot, Sith don't need any stinking missles. If a blaster offends them in personal combat a missle must be equally distasteful in ships.
