Yeah, there are much better ships (even in the Empirial faction some may argue), but it's Darth Vader. Isn't this a Star Wars game? If any ship/pilot is a bit OP, shouldn't it be Vader?

The thing is, this makes a PS9, stress-free double action, 5 hp Autothrusters ship.

I'm not saying it would be broken, but it's definitely power creep, and definitely really, really good.

The only thing I think Darth Vader needs, along with every other small ship, is a discount to Engine Upgrade. EU should be 2 points and small-ship-only, just like Vectored Thrusters.

Vader is fine. He already got a fix from the raider, and even before that came out he was still considered decent.

Well he's been toast for about 10 months so, yeah basically...

Vader is just fine as he is... he still kicks bottom.

The extra mod would be 100% Autothrusters, which would make him pretty sick - but as others have said, maybe he should be "that" good.

IF, big IF, you want to change him I think 2 EPTs would be better / more representative of the best pilot ever. Soooo many cool combo's though, but nothing too broken (just ask A-wings).

Just nerf/remove TLT and Vader is fine.

I think you should just put Vader on the table. He isn't even hard to build because his EPT can be absolutely anything you want it to be. He is not a slave to his EPT.

Adaptability = PS 10

Crackshot = minus 1 health to the opposition

Predator/Lone Wolf = rerolls

He might not have Autothrusters but he is probably the best arc dodger in the game for 34-35pts.

The advanced dial isn't even that bad when you can boost and roll. Vader actually has far more options than Soontir for his movement because he isn't stressed.

He is an absolute joy to fly.

He also isn't your whole list and thinking that a 35pt ship can take on 100pts of turrets by himself is just crazy.

Seriously, just fly him. He's better than fine.

Those other TIE Advanced though. The ones that don't have double actions, they are priced too high.

Not entirely true, as you're looking at a 37pt Vader with Engine, X1, adv. TC, and Predator. So while he may not be a slave to it, he is still quite restricted when it comes to points. Flexible in the 0-1 point range?

But for 36-37 points I can get the super version of QuickDraw, who's just better at everything.

To be fair, in that point range Vader does dodge arcs better than Quickdraw and is much faster.

Basic rules would require a big change :

"When you attack outside your primary firing arc, you can't modify your attack dice."

Simply and logical. Because a pilot can't focus on a target he can't see, theorically ; targeting computers or artillery crews are essentiels to get sharp shots.

He's an artillery crew on this upgrade, not a pilot...

Special takes precedence over genus. Upgrades like Luke Skywalker or Tail gunner make exception to the basic rule.

Now which one is it? Could you or could you not modify your attacks outside the primary arc?

FWIW to try to stay on topic, I don't think Vader's in a bad position, it's just that his main advantage right now - high PS arc dodging - is just not all that useful, and with that in mind, there's little he can do that Maarek or Rexler can't in a /x7. If PS9 becomes more prevalent, I think Adaptability or VI Vader can become a lot more usable.
