Hi people, do you think we'll get a terrain pack in the future, or will we need to buy all heroes (from all factions) in order to collect them all?
New terrain tiles from heroes pack only?
or are they so faction specific than it doesnt make sense to use them in another faction?
Just based on the way that FFG does things, you'll probably need to buy the Hero pack that they come in. They may eventually come with expansions in different factions but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them.
I think the undead one is a "graveyard" so that makes sense (probably adds a green rune to regen results)

Hawthorne's adds an Inspiration when you collide with it.
I think it's great that FFG is making the effort to include neutral upgrades across factions and expansions so you don't have to buy everything, but I don't think it's as important with terrain and won't be bothered if they're not as available.
The neutral upgrades are things that all players could conceivably use and plan for in their army building. Terrain in general is randomized based on the deployment card, then randomly chosen from your collection of terrain cards. You can't plan for any of that.
We also don't know for sure yet how or why that terrain is incorporated. It's probably just added randomly (which, again, isn't as much of a problem), but it could also be some faction scenario or whatever. Not sure.
If their business model holds up I would imagine each equivalent release would come with a related terrain. So the Elves would get more woodlands, humans more castles, undead more graveyard type stuff. That way when you shuffle up the deck of terrain everybody has a chance at enhancing their side.
Given the presence of the Essentials Pack, I think it isn't impossible that they'll release a terrain pack after two or three years of expansions. But if they don't, I'm still okay with it. I hope to play this game at the store, so as long as I have opponents with diverse armies, I'll still get to see all the terrain, even if I don't own it.
You can call me JBR7, but I don't need no tournament-legal terrain to tell me how to play. I'll make whatever terrain I want - there are even guidelines for doing so in the Learn to Play Guide and Rules Reference. It's cool that there will be lots of variety for tournaments - bravo, FFG! But there is so much more to this game than that!
It seems like Maegan might like that Stronghold. With Elevated and Fortified 1, she can rain down damage across the battlefield and if someone does engage her the extra defense will make her hard to kill.

Cool visual, a sorceress atop a ruin tower raining manic down upon her enemies
How does hero terrain work in organized play? Do you just add the terrain to the deck that you draw from? Could mean mixing up cards... maybe it's not that big a problem though.
Game-wise, it would be interesting to have to plan for the possibility of facing an opponent with terrain that you don't usually encounter or use yourself.

No one knows how anything works in organized play.
I'm guessing that each player will bring terrain, deployment, and objective cards. One player's cards will be used for each category.

Unfortunately official tournaments likely won't support fully custom terrain.

Oh, I expect that. In X-wing I let the tournament hype drive how I played for these past 4-5 years. Not this game. Sure, I'll play tournaments, but I think this game is going to be a great outlet for creativity, and I'm particularly excited about that aspect.

Or even Objective cards that you don't usually encounter or use yourself... the new Objective in the Latari expansion may be the start of a trend...
(or even the new Objectives that come with the Heroes...)

Which is why if I was a betting man, I'd put serious money down on the "Blighted Ground" adding a Blight when you collide with it...
I like @Hidatom 's idea of the graveyard doing something for Regen...
Interesting. Somehow I had missed that the charachters come with new kinds of terrain. I won't be buying any non-Daqan characters just for their terrain. However, I might trace the templates and note their effects from any my friends have as I'm building 3d versions of all my terrain templates and it'd be cool to make as wide a variety as possible.
Of course I'll also just use pieces from my own rather massive collection of terrain and assign sensible rules to it from the list in the rulebook. I'm definitely going to use my medieval town in this game.
Remember terrain is 2 sided.
Maybe the back side of the inspiring terrain is the graveyard...

It's a Stronghold (or at least that's what Google Translate says "Place Forte" means in French). It holds two bases and is Elevated and Fortified 1.
Actually, you can kind of make out the names to both sides of the terrain cards in both of these spread pictures. They are clearly two different pieces of double-sided terrain. The spread for Maegan doesn't show any terrain. I wonder if she doesn't have any because the Elf starter kit is coming with two pieces of double-sided terrain.
