I just wish the guy would put on a shirt.
Golem, Hawthorne and Spearman preview
QuoteWhile their reliance on runes may make the Rune Golems seem like a risky choice, their modifier dial allows them to count an additional stable energy when they perform a melee attack or special ability, giving them much needed consistency.
Huh? This is just wrong right?

According to the dial, it looks legit: there's a red-stance +stable energy icon on the modifier dial. How come I've never noticed that before? (It's probably because I don't have the game in-hand yet).

That's a defense bonus equal to stable runes.
Ah, right. That sounds more familiar. Shouldn't be posting late at night. Shame, shame.

It's nice to see that movement templates and hidden dials aren't the only things that Runewars is borrowing from X-Wing. They've also taken the "find the problem with the article" game.

Yeah I thought I was going mad!
Its seems they saw the +stable energy (defence modifier) and thought it meant +1 stable energy to the energy pool?
Man that reconfigure is awesome.
Taking a unit of 2x2 knights and going 4 wide gives you a 4x damage, at the cost of a re-roll.
Rank discipline is 4 points, which is all you have to spend to get your re-roll back.
I'm thinking Rank Discipline + moment of inspiration. 4 wide, throwing a white, 2 red and a blue, with a re-roll, damage x4. Could wipe whole units.
Add in Hawthorns ability to bubble inspire, passing out tokens to let those cav unit(s) untap the moment of inspiration for the 2nd round of fighting.
Nifty.

Wow. Hawthorne is looking pretty amazing!
White defence and rally modifiers
Melee at initiative 2.
2 speed move as a modifier makes him fast when he needs to be.
Looking forward to seeing what his figure upgrade version will do....
One of them is for the Cavalry figure. And i can't insert image from url, it doesn't work.

It's strange, there isn't any infantry upgrade.

The page is back, without Captain Hawthorne... I wonder why. Have they had to change him?

It's because the image doesn't end in an image extension (.jpg, .png, .gif).
So, who here reads French?
It seems like the Ruined Temple does something with Inspirations when entering the terrain. The text is a bit too small for me read well enough to type into translation to see exactly what it does though.
new terrain, exciting ?
I almost expected Hawthorne to be a Calvary upgrade. That would be a new twist. Still he seems pretty powerful just like Meagan power level. I am scared of 4x1 Calvary with precision upgrade.
i better hurry up and finish painting, I can't buy anymore till I'm done
I speak french.
"Temple en ruines: Quand une unité entre en collision avec ce terrain, elle reçoit 1 pion Inspiration."
"Ruined Temple: When a unit collides with this terrain, it receives 1 Inspiration token."

The other terrain shown on this picture is:
"Place Forte: Élevé - Fortifié 1"
"Stronghold: Elevated - Fortified 1"
Hold up....Dawn Blade is fudged up in the article...
Hawthorne has Brutal 1, so he multiplies his hits by 2. That illustration shows he multiplied the Surge damage too (1 hit + 3 surge = 4 damage w/o any Threat multipliers, yet it shows 8 damage)
Pg12 of the rulebook, 42.1: "For each [Hit] icon an attacker spends during an attack, the defender suffers an amount of damage equal to the attacker's threat"
The Surge effect doesnt say add Hit results, it says they suffer damage. Threat does not multiply that damage, so where did the additional 3 wounds come from? that should be 5 damage with those die results.
That is a pretty lousy ability for 10pts..... i'd much much rather have the range1 melee especially since he can multistrike
Edited by Vineheart01It's threat times surges spent. Just re read the upgrade so it's right

Dawnblade adds your threat value in damage for each surge that you spend. If you look at the dice there are 3 surge results and a hit result. The 3 surges get spent for a total of 6 damage and the one hit result adds another 2 damage for a total of 8. Dawnblade's text pretty much just makes surge results work like damage results.
Sweeping Strikes and Dawnblade fill different slots so you can take both of them. It does look like you can only use the Dawnblade surge ability with enemies that Hawthorne is actually in contact with.
Ah, ok derp on my end i missed it deals damage equal to your threat - read...i swear i can do it...
