If you don't intend to play tournament, just buy all the big/small box expansions first before buying blister packs

big box expansion = 16 fig for ~$50

blister pack = 1 figure for ~$8

So I'd buy it in this order: Hoth -> Jabba -> TS -> Bespin (I like Heavy stormtrooper/Tusken > Wing guards/Ugnaughts)

Consider buying Jabba -> Hoth if you don't like snowy scenes (Hoth = snowtrooper, HK droids. Jabba = well...Jabba, and Jet troopers)

If you already have the core set then I would buy Jabba and the new expansion

“Jabba's Realm”. You can easily make a competitive list with Jabba and Jabba’s realm and have a few good command cards.

If you are just starting to play skirmish I suggest checking out this site.

Good luck and have fun.

If you're just playing casual - I'd just buy what you're interested in and what interests your friend.

If you like the mercenary faction - get Jabba

If you like the Imperial side of things, Hoth or Twin Shadows may be better, but actually Jabba's Realm has jet troopers in it and then buy a blister or two of Imperials like Capt Terro or Agent Blaise, or Grand Inquisitor, etc.

If you want Rebels, you're probably going to have to buy some blisters. Most of them come in the blister packs, however, they also have tokens you can play with in the larger, more cost - effective sets like Jabba's Realm, Hoth and Twin Shadows. Bespin has the weakest collection, but I like their Rebel characters, the rest is a bit meh. Hoth has great figures all around. I think I've already tipped my hand that the Jabba's Realm is my favorite big pack. Rebel Blister packs that are fun to get are Luke Jedi knight, Obiwan, Lando Calrissian, Alliance Smugglers or Echo Base Troopers and the alliance smuggler.

ok, I thought that the big box was only for campaign and Ally and Villains was for the skirmish

Buying the big box will cost an arm to skirmish..

Almost everything can do both (campaign and skirmish) You get more figures for you buck with the big packs, meaning it's cheaper per figure to get the big set.

In Jabba's realm $60, you get tiles, rules, maps and cards for both skirmish and campaign. you get extra cards and tokens to play the figures that come in the individual packs (so you get a Luke, Jabba and Rebel Ranger Commando tokens) You also get 4 jet trooper, 4 weequay (cards for both elite and regular) Rancor , 3 characters so around 5 bucks a figure

Ally and villain packs you get 3 Rangers, both cards for skirmish, a map, rules and play cards for campaign for 15. Luke and Jabba you get the same, but only one figure and their cost is $10 and $13 and you get their command cards.

so everything is for both games included.
