I'm finding my character idea lacklustre. The core element I want to play is the Saber Throwing Ranged character, but I'm struggling to explain what led to that character. I'm still going to play that concept, but I don't think Sentry is the way to do it.

Any ideas?

Do you still want to be a Gank? Or completely redo the concept of the background?

Do we have someone who's character is going to have both piloting skills as career skills?

Yes. Juggo will be have at least 1 rank in piloting planetary as well as skilled jockey and defensive driving. He's not 100% piloting, but he could be able to cover most of the bases. Like I said before, it would be nice if someone else could cover Astrogation, since Juggo's only 2 int and it'd be expensive to be decent in it.

So the brother in prison... What do you think the prison planet is like?

The name, Crematoria, should offer a hint. A hot rocky world where the prison complex and everything there is deep underground. The prisoners mostly work at mining non-specific stuff, so there's all sorts of tunnels all over the place, but there's not really anywhere to go, since the prison complex is really the only source of food and water.

OK, quick question, can you people access this character sheet here?

I've got all the XP expenditure down, but I'm not sure if I should focus more or leave it a little spread out.

Tricked out blaster pistol is going to be a X-30 Lancer with custom grip and rapid recharge X-citer.

Side note, anyone who gets the joke involved in the brother's naming is awarded 100 internet points.

Right now I'm thinking Squadron Leader, since I haven't seen anyone that's going to have mechanics as a career skill. The tree also has some really interesting leadership talents.

Im unsure. What im lacking is a "thing" the character did before learning to throw sabres. Stealth and Vigilance isn't enough to build a story on for me. I mean the guy has 6 Cybernetics! and for no reason other than he is a Gank.

So i decided to change to Shien. I can still get the Saber Throw talent (more expensive), but it fits better with the concept. Ill also take the actual Lightsaber for the Knight Level gear, and probably reduce Duty by 10 to get enough credits for some other gear. With Intellect 2 he is going to try making his own saber hilt too, probably be a few flaws in that one!

Hmm, ok so, random background kernels being tossed out here.

He got the cybernetics, not just "Because Gank", but because he has a vendetta against a particular person, and he's augmented himself to give him every edge in tracking that person down and killing them. Since you're going the Jedi-ish route, perhaps it was his Master that was killed, by some agent of the Empire, and now he's sworn to track him down for revenge. I know you said he didn't have any training, but that's in the background taht you are potentially dumping, so I thought I'd try a different angle there.

Um...he was a slave of the Empire for years, and the augments were to help repair and fix the damage done to his body as he served in a hellish mine, digging up kyber crystals. This would allow him to find one, realize he's got an affinity for Force stuff, and help facilitate his escape. Now he augments himself, so he will never be so weak again, if someone else tries to make him someone else's property.

He has been working for the Rebellion for years, and the augments are simply an "over time" kind of thing, as he has been injured, or found himself lacking in certain respects for his jobs. They can rebuild him afterall, faster, stronger, smarter.

That's really all I can think of atm. I know nothing about Gank culture, so I can't really say much on that front.

She instructed him only briefly.

Maybe he has a recorder cybernetic, and continually plays her snippits of lessons over and over...

If i take the full saber then he will have far fewer cybernetics, but those are all interesting ideas. I like the long slavery idea, with some kind of mentor found within the mine who opened his eyes... now he is finding his won way in the force.

Yeah, I actually had an idea like that for someone else on this forum, or at least the idea. Basically, one of the elder slave miners, knew about force-sensitives, but wasn't one themselves. He saw the PC party (or in this case, your solo PC), and gave him a crystal he had around his neck, as a totem/fetish. The old guy dies, either from accident or just old age, giving it to the person and saying something like "Take it, it will show you the way....out....*death gasp*" And then the PC escapes, possibly suffering grievous injury in the process, thus why he needs some cybernetics.

My other idea was Kaz found an old homeless hermit in the depths of whatever city. The homeless dude dies giving him the crystal, and the small combat remote droid. Its the droid who has done all the teaching.

So Kaz is a street rat, getting by by stealing and cheating. only now for the first time in his life he has real power with this new weapon. He goes on a vigilante rampage against all the thugs he had trouble with over his life. Eventually ends up on the run from the Empire, finds the Rebellion and a real home for the first time in his living memory.

Here's what I've come up with, I went with squadron leader since I liked its leadership talents. Since we already have a pilot I completely ignored that side of the talent tree.

I also got an R2 unit with the credits for those astrogation checks (plus mobile tools to help the PC's).

Now thats the kind of commander Kaz likes, get the job done now kind a guy, not to mention a cannon for a pistol and Armour Piercing grenades.

Vima was also Bumming around nar shadda if you like that better then Kessel

I forget, how much money was it we had? 9k right?

Yup

9k from Knight Leve, plus the 500 credits every character starts out with.

So I'm thinking about doing a colonist/politico, not sure species. I tend to like to go against the grain and play something with a low stat in your most important characteristic. Maybe a Devaronian...

OK, I think I'm done with the mechanical side of the character sheet.

I just want someone to confirm that the sheet is publicly visible.

https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1198360

I can see it

Although none of the skill ranks show on my phone which I assume is a mythweavers thing

latest?cb=20150730043512 Kaz getting his lightsaber?

I see dice pools but no skill ranks mr. Spatula

++Description++

C-R41F retains the humanoid head of a protocol droid from his original form but his body has been extensively replaced or remade with other droid parts. His upper torso and left arm arm that of a Commando Droid modified with much bulkier plating creating a high "collar" of armor around the back and sides of his head. His right arm has been replaced with that of a B2 Super Battle Droid with extra spiked plates added for intimidation. Heavy armored legs in a digitigrade double-knee format support his bulky torso and upper body giving him a feral, predatory gait when he walks.

++Background++

Ralf started his "life" as a droid under Imperial influence, serving as a translator droid in the torture halls of the prison world of Crematoria. The scorching surface of the planet always fascinated him and gave him a penchant for suggesting the use of flames, heat and burnings/branding in the use of the tortures to solicit the most information from their victims as possible. As years wound onwards he developed an odd tick in his programming that made his feel remorse for the weak fleshlings that lay on his tables being slowly killed for Rebel information. One such individual, a cell leader, lasted 5 long months of torturous flames and scalpels, but never broke. R41F found his programming feeling admiration for this man, that he would hold onto hope despite all odds.

When the Rebel Alliance mounted a raid and attack party to free the man, R41F was as shocked as they were when he picked up a flame projector and began torching the Imperial guards and stormtroopers to cover their retreat. The Cell leader took R41F on as a temporary ally and eventually as years wound on, assisted him in replacing his body piece by piece until he took on the rebellious mishmash of parts the droid is now. Once sleek lines and awkward movements, R41F was now a predatory war machine who served as a hired gun of the Alliance. He totes around a small assortment of weapons to deal with threats but he is known for his massive, modified C-10 Heavy Blaster Pistol named "Silence" and his brutal Flamestrike heavy flame projector cannon named "Screams"
