One shot pbp for a practice at GM-ing

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I will be brain storming this weekend the initial opening and we can start sometime next week. I'll guarantee good response from me on the weekends, as I have more free time and the other pbp's arn't as active on weekends.

I'll probably still post fairly frequently during the week I'm just not guaranteeing anything until I see how this works out... I'm going to need ample time to figure out rules as they play out and search books.

I'll be posting up my background for C-R41F aka Ralph, former protocol droid turned mercenary battle droid sometime later today. Once upon a time he was a protocol droid but nowadays he has switched out and replaced so much of his original body that only his original head remains, the rest of him having been replaced with parts from various models of battle droid and custom parts.

Your first adventure will be to steal a ship.

Insert flailing arm kermit gif here* Shipjacking?! YAAAY!! In that case I'll not buy that speeder, and get something else.

Don't mind restricted items but you'll have to justify why your character would have them and how they were able to get them, if you shoot for very illegal it might have ic consequences.

Insert evil business guy from Simpsons, with folded hands here* Mmmm....excellent....yessss.

That will help blow more of my credit pile :D That's for sure. I'll have to tweak that stuff tonight though, work beckons...*mumble grumble.*

Serious question for the group as a whole. Big heavy blaster rifle(probably the DH-X) that is fairly powerful but nothing particularly unique... a "Sidewinder" Light Repeater because gatling blaster is all kinds of awesome... or "Flamestrike" heavy flame projector because fleshbags burn and Ralph would make a fun pyro.

Rule of cool, I'll leave it up to you guys.

Sidewinder, show the new GM just how broken Autofire is :o

Naw, I don't mind really, the DH-X is less of a hassle when we have to go to nicer places to actually talk to people.

I do indeed wanna see how broken it is, I warn you I may try some house rules later but right now its RAW and I'll try to manage it through social encounters

Sidewinder it is then. I'll probably pick up some other weapons just in case. When we're "on mission" Ralf will likely have a small armory at his disposal.

Ooh... Sidewinder with underbarrel flame projector... boarding actions will be all kinds of nasty, we might just have to become pirates ?

So the story goes, some of you are part of a desperate and isolated rebel cell, inspired by the battle of scarrif, you plan a daring raid. You need ship's and supplies and a way to maintain regular contact with the fledgling alliance.

Others maybe hired guns, or crazies with a bone to pick with the Empire.

Either way the resistance cell can't be choosy.

You've just raided a supply convoy, which is where some of your supplies have come from, however you lost friends, aside from a couple of sympathizers your all that's left.

I got to figure out where your at now...

Ok so, since my guy is an AoR concept, I'm guessing he's one of the members of this cell, so who else wants to be part of that established bit? We can hash out our connected stories.

Mine too, right now I'm thinking Squadron Leader or Strategist. So they would probably be the leader of the cell, if that sounds good to everyone.

Feeling I'm going for is a bit like inglorious bastards

Background will be posted as soon as I'm off work, but until then R41F/Ralf I'd like to have it as Ralf was "owned" by one of the cell members who died or if you're down for combining backgrounds a bit Imperial ST, if you go with the leader type he could be "technically" owned by you. Either way he was owned by someone in the cell but very much considers himself a free droid who has a particular hatred of the Empire after having served as a protocol droid assisting in translations during tortures. It made him sadistic and callous but it also made him hate the Empire for their wasteful and wanton destruction. He defected, rebuilt himself into a machine of war, and now fights the Empire for the sheer thrill and irony of it.

That sounds interesting, it would allow for some good hooks. I'm still working out all the details for my character, but I've narrowed the species down to Sathari and Human.

Well, my guy pretty much has to be human, seeing as he is ex-Imperial. And I'm fine with someone being the lead of the squad, my guy isn't really the leader type, unless nobody is stepping up kind of situation.

Kaz has been at this a while, combat had not previously been his specialty, he was more a sneak and a ruffian, lying for personal gain. Now that he has discovered his ability with Lightsabers though he is becoming far more dangerous and aggressive.

Im imagining him being the guy that's always there to run errands. He doesn't seem useful but always gets the job done. He is particularly good at smuggling information and small items for the group. Without any family now he will probably be drawn to the moe withdrawn pc's, friendly chit chat is not his thing.

I saw you had the destruction of a city as part of your characters background @KungFuFerret . I'm going to include that same event in mine as the destruction of the rest of Kaz' pack, to tie us together

That's fine, perhaps Kaz is one of the people that helped him defect from the Empire after the destruction, and introduced him to the Rebellion.

Yeah that sounds fun, I like it.

Juggo makes it very clear that "I'm not part of your rebellion, we just have a mutually beneficial deal going on," despite the fact that he pretty much is a part of the Rebellion.

He's very much a street rat, and any of the PC's could be his "sponsor" or the person he originally contacted the Rebellion through. I left it vague, but TheShard, I'm assuming he doesn't have any ship of his own at the moment?

No... You'll steal something little to steal something bigger.

OK. So since we don't have to worry about ship upgrades, I guess Juggo's prized possession is going to be a tricked out blaster pistol. The question is, what exactly.

Yup, space piracy is gonna be a thing... Flamestrike is gonna be my weapon of choice. Nothing says "Hi, we're taking this ship now." quite like a droid with a massive flame cannon.

Just got home from work so background should be coming shortly.

Do we have someone who's character is going to have both piloting skills as career skills?

You'd probably need it, but it could be in npc, but npc are also expendable so... ;) know what they say about redshirts? Oh wrong franchise...

I'm finding my character idea lacklustre. The core element I want to play is the Saber Throwing Ranged character, but I'm struggling to explain what led to that character. I'm still going to play that concept, but I don't think Sentry is the way to do it.

Any ideas?

So the brother in prison... What do you think the prison planet is like?
