I have assumed that every object you can buy has a price of 5 (the number in the card). I haven't found any reference in the rules...also, can i buy an object in any space, given I have enough money to pay for it?

You can only buy items in spaces where it is allowed. The village, for example, has a store you can buy some stuff at. Look at the text portion of the space on the board. It lists what you can buy and how much each item costs.

There are also some encounter cards in the Adventure deck that offer you the opportunity to buy things for prices listed on the cards. Some of these cards will stick around in the space where they are drawn, others are one-time deals. I don't own any of the expansions (yet) but I wouldn't be surprised if they have similar things.

The number on Purchase cards is an Order number, just like on Adventure cards. It is not the price of the Purchase card. It is for when a Purchase card gets dropped on the board and later encounter by a player; its order is the same as for enountering multiple adventure cards by their order number.
