Understanding the Ghost

By iamzoner, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I read an online article about the Ghost being able to have 4 attacks??? The only way that I can figure this out to be true is if it has the Phantom shuttle docked which would allow the Ghost an additional attack with an equipped turret.

So for the first attack it would be 2 rounds of tlt and then the bonus attack with 2 rounds of tlt equalling 4 attacks in 1 round?

Or is it that the Ghost and the shuttle each have a separate attack per round and then the tlt at the end? If the shuttle is deployed it would be an additional ship with separate attack so does the shuttle get its own attack while docked as well?

TLT in the combat phase then TLT in the end phase.

The shuttle is basically nonexistent while it's docked. You can't use any pilot abilities or upgrade cards you've placed on it while it is docked.

While docked, the Ghost's special arc can be used as a primary firing arc, and if you have a turret on the Ghost, you gain an additional turret attack and the End of the Combat phase. As @thespaceinvader said, TLTs in combat and again at the end of the combat phase give you 4 total attacks that will do up to 4 damage.

It's always beneficial to use its primary attack if possible during the first round of combat because of its 4 red dice. Add Fire Control System to it, and you have a target lock ready for your additional turret shot.

Yes it is four salve of TLT, but this is not really 4 attack, this is 2 TLT attack that happen to do a two parts attack.

I disagree with this. There are times when a turret (secondary weapon) attack is the better shot even when the front or rear arc would give you a primary weapon attack 4 dice standard).

Not ALWAYS beneficial. Usually, but sometimes (especially if the defender is tokens up) it can be more beneficial to use tlt to strip tokens.

Fair point. I can see that. *Always* wasn't the right word. I tend to go for max damage, so I try to land as many dice as possible. That use case isn't something I have experienced. Thanks for the knowledge.
