Attanni Mind link and Remove Stress Token

By Ghost-Georgia, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The Attanni Mind Link Card states,"Each time your are assigned a focus or stress token, each other friendly ship with Attanni Mindlink must also be assigned the same type of token if it does not already have one." So, if a ship that has mindlink does a green maneuver to remove a stress, does all the ships linked remove the stress? Reason I ask is the card states "Assigned a Focus or Stress" and not remove a stress.

Thanks for your help.

The card says to do something when you are assigned a Focus or a Stress. The card does not say to do something when you remove a Focus or a Stress. This leads naturally into the Rules Subforum's favorite bumper sticker: "Do what the card says to do. Do not do what the card does not say to do."

I searched google and sadly did not find any Bumper Sticker with RTFC or something equivalent.

Also to further the question, if one of the ships was assigned a focus token for it's initial action, can it be assigned a second focus token from another ship that it is linked with? Based on this statement on the card, I would believe no is the answer, however I was curious to ask. " must also be assigned the same type of token if it does not already have one."

So, basically, it can not be assigned an additional focus or stress token from other ships that carry the mindlink card.

Thanks,

No.

Do what the card says. The card says that as long as you have a focus or stress token, you can't be passed the same type of token by Mindlink. So you can't.

Mindlink is many things, but it is eminently clear. Just do what it says.

Note that you CAN gain a focus token from another source once you have your first token wherever it came from.

@Ghost-Georgia , the takeaway here is that you're reading Mindlink correctly. There are cards and interactions that are less clear, and it's not always obvious which is which to people who aren't immersed in X-Wing rules debates, so keep asking when you're not sure. But so far you're doing fine.
