I know Runewars is set in the same world as Runebound and Descent. I also heard that the old FFG game Discwars is set in the same world is that true?
Question about the World of Runewars.
Runewars is a re-implementation of an old FFG game called Battlemist. Battlemist used the same game universe as Diskwars. Along with a facelift and a rebuilt game engine, they have decided to "port over" the setting into the Descent/Runebound universe. So they've expanded the known D/RB universe to include a number of details from the BM/DW universe, effectively making the two into one.
Hopefully that made sense. =)
I for one am always happy to see more details about the RB universe, regardless of where it comes from originally. =)
What I gathered by reading the intro at the beginning of the rulebook is that the Battlemist/Diskwars "world" was merely separated from the Runebound/Descent "world" by time - IE, the events of Diskwars and Battlemist happened long ago. Runewars is in a time when some of the old stuff is coming back - the Dragon Runes are discovered to be really shards of Timorran of old, and the Uthuk apparently were thought gone, but have resurfaced.

That may well be the case. I never played BM/DW myself so I don't know much about it's backstory. All I know is the two universes were being blended into one, but I don't really know how much of each was kept or how.
World of Runewars made me think FFG was going to make a MMORPG out of this. I have to admit they could probably make a pretty cool one with this IP!
