"Starter boxes" for Humans and Undead?

By AshesFall, in Runewars Miniatures Game

I'm wondering, so do you think they will release single faction starting boxes for the first two factions as well?

I have a friend who would probably like to play but who won't be too enamoured by the humans, however, he'll be all over the elves. I'm not keen on buying a a starter pack and getting a bunch of humans I won't be playing...

Maybe check with someone in your area if they would be willing to purchase the extra human units from your core?

With two core boxes you still cannot field a 3x3 spearman unit without a golem.
If in my area (country to be honest) there were more than 2 players I'd be happy to purchase half of a core from someone to get some more Archers already.

Ask around, someone might bite.

Or you could wait a while for the Uthuk Y'llan to be revealed. The hedgehog demon people could appeal to you.

You can always try to sell them.

And about you question, I have no clue if they will do that.

I think its pretty unlikely they will release separate starter boxes anytime soon.

I don't think they will ever do a Waiqar or Daqan army box.

The Latari and Uthuk ones are $60 RRP. And the core is $100 RRP. So the core is a great deal anyway. And will give you a secondary army if you want the ability to do demo games at home.

Alternatively you should be able to eBay the other half of the core and get some money back.

Don't forget to add in the $25 for the essentials pack. If you buy a core you only need to sell the components from the unwanted faction for $15 to break even with what you would have spent on a single faction starter.

For as cheap as the second faction is I just looked at it as a bonus that allows me to play the game with people that are interested in playing but haven't decided to commit to buying in yet.

My gut says no.

Though they're doing a number of things different with RWMG than their other minis games, so at this point only FFG can say for sure (and probably they don't even know yet as they're probably still gathering data on sales figures, researching demand, figuring out production schedules for getting the other armies out the door etc.)

If you're really invested in buying the game and the only thing stopping you is the humans. Mod the humans. Make them into a bunch of alternate sculpts in your skeleton army.

You can go dead easy and just paint both armies in the same color scheme (think more zombie than skele), you can go all out with carving, sculpting, and kit bashing, or you can find a nice mix of the two extremes. It's a bit of work and you may not be down for it but it gets you playing the game sooner and you get a really cool and unique army out of it.

Heh...this topic again...heh...I honestly expect to see Daqan and Waiqar expansion boxes in the future, but I don't think they will be copies of the core I think they will be new and interesting models...now with that grenade on the floor with the pin pulled I am going to leave this forum post before I get blown to bits and chewed up...like last time (I jest I actually enjoyed my back and forth last time...I just don't want to start it again I just want to be a little ray of hope and sunshine and all things happy with the undead!)

Use the other half to do mods for your preferred army. I'm going to have broken spears sticking out of the reanimates shields, one of my runegolems is going to be holding half a skeleton upside down by the leg, etc...

That sounds so cool!

I bet it would be in the hands of a good painter/modeler. I'm pretty rusty, so at this point I'm just looking for passable. :)

Remember the Latari box needs the Essentials box so that is another 25$ on top of 60. So you buy the core for a good deal.

Yeah given that the Latari "starter" is packed with the thought you already have the core, i dont see humans/undead standalone expansions for awhile. The latari if you need the essentials is BARELY cheaper than the core for half the models. Even if they release a human or undead only expansion, people would just buy the core and ebay off the side they dont want for ~50 or so.

As everyone has said get someone else to buy a starter and split it.

That will give you about 150 before upgrades and all the cardboard and cards.

Your friend will need to buy 2 Elf starter boxes and a Starter pack to get, a guess here, around 150 in elves.
