If you don't want spoilers, I'd suggest doing what you feel is best with the Boons. The less said regarding that, the better.

that is good but what about the other tree?

1. always progress to the objective. try to eliminate imperial activations, either deployments that have not had their turn, or the opportunity to remove a card from the table. I like bringing in Allies for the rebels, they can focus on imperial units while the heroes hunt the objective.

2. I have recently just played through the Technological superiority deck. fun, as there are some robots and droids to use in hoth. though they are all fun. depends on what theme you what to play with. based on the story i went with, i used tech deck

3. there are some staples to bring along, but again, theme is important (to me). have it work with you imperial deck. i would avoid Punishing tactics agenda set though for hoth, as you may get some bonuses from that set in the campaign ;).

4. yeah, use the boons how and when you want. or save them.

ill try to remember that while playing. Thx!

1: also worth mentioning that sometimes it's better for the rebels to only partially weaken a deployment. (Instead of killing it)

lets say you kill 1 or 2 stormtroopers before their activation.

now, that imperial activation is weaker than before.

Yes, the Imperial can reinforce it, but so long as they don't have an activation advantage it should be manageable while still pursuing the mission objective(s)

I think I general that is a good comment, those poor rebels should have one or two clean up people and the others do the objective.

Sometimes, it they're able to pretty well keep up with the action-

Case in point- In an ongoing campaign I have with my wife, brother, and sister, the heroes are playing Gaarkhan, Shyla, Diala, and Fenn. All pretty decent heroes. Now, obviously Diala and Shyla are going to be best played as board mitigation, while Fenn is going to be the best vanguard for taking out large groups of figures. Gaarkhan is probably going to be pretty good at taking down Imps, too.

So, that's probably how they should be playing. But, despite my advice, that's totally not how they're playing.

My brother, who is controlling both Gaarkhan and Diala, is being far too cautious for his own good. Fenn has almost never been near the action, and Gaarkhan rarely is either. That means that Diala and Shyla are typically left to deal with not only mitigating the board and fulfilling objectives, but also with facing the brunt of the Imp forces.

That all changed on our most recent mission, in which Gaarkhan had a much more important presence taking out Imps left and right in a choke point in what I could only describe as the Rebel's answer to Vader's Rogue One "Hallway Scene", while Diala and Shyla worked closely with the objective, Diala force pushing the figure to the end while Shyla whipped enemies out of the way. It was a thing of beauty, really, and it was the first mission they won since Aftermath (about 6 or 7 missions in, too). Fenn was kind of left behind again, but I think this last mission really taught the Rebels how to better work together, so I expect Fenn to be better utilized soon, too.
