Flames of Tzeentch question

By pancerek, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

As it is my first post, I'd like to say hello to everyone and send greetings from Poland ;)

Flames of Tzeentch:

Play during your turn. Action: Deal X damage to a target unit.

Here we go. The situation on board: enemy King Kazador on Battlefield, I (Chaos) have 9 resources and Flames of Tzeentch card in my hand.

As KK card say, to target him with effects of a card, I have to pay extra 3 resources. So I'd like to use my FoT card on KK. The question is about the effects of that action. FoT description says that I can DEAL "X" damage so is KK's Toughness working? Will it kill him (I pay 3 res for playing the card and 6 as X)?

Hello,

Sorry, but the Toughness will kicks in, except if you have a Bloodthirster in play. I fear that Flames is not the best card to kill King Kazador. :(

Cain

But why is Toughness working here, if in the rulebook is written that it cancels ASSIGNED damage. I think that with that card I deal damage, without assigning it at all.

I speak logically, don't I?

It is defined in the rulebook that all damaging effects, except Counterstrike are first assigned and then applied.

What a shame...

So, off-topic question. Doesn't that case overpower King Kazador and extremely blows Chaos?

and is this even possible to kill kazador? :D

As a fellow Chaos player I say that with Bule on the field we are far from blown. :)

We could always play the extra barrels to corrupt KK if it is needed. However yes, he is the most powerfull heavy hitter on the Order side.

Also, if you play Dark Elf cards as well you only have to damage him before a Call the Blood.

Bule stands for Bloodthirster?

I feel Bule is much more usefull in most games than the Bloodthirster. I rather play 2-3 cheaper cards than the big demon in one turn.

Bule stands for "Bule, Lord of Pus", a Chaos Hero released in the second battlepack (Path of the zealot).

One don't need to kill Kazador to win a game :

1) he can only protect 1 zone and nothing force you to attack that specific zone.

2) attacking/defending a zone with enought power will bypass his toughness and kill that little big guy.

3) a Flame of Tzeentch with 11 ressource spent will toast him.

Generally options #1 or #2 are enought to win you the game. demonio.gif

Same here, and for all my deck. That's why there's no Kazador within my dwarven deck (and it performs very well).

It's worse when Kazador is on battlefield and systematically damages your capital ;)

That's the worst situation... for him : you may simply defend and put some heavy damages on him.

Playing as Orks, when all damgedoing creatures are used rather on battlefield, leaving Quest and Kingdom less protected your idea is useless anyway  Kazador requires at least 6 attacks from a creatuer doing at least 3 damage. It is in my opinion impossible to support Quest and Kingdom zones in that way. I think, that Kazador is the toughest, hmm simply the best unit card in the game.

We can bid each other to the end of the world :P

If Kazador attacks you alone then you have a lots of turns to burn his kingdom and quest. :P

If he could defend those zones and also have Kazador and 2-3 units in BF then you maybe already lost, as you were to slow with your orcs. Your only chance is a Troll Vomit then, if any.

The best unit in the game can't cost 6 with 5 loyalty. I will surprise you, but to me, the best units in the game are 2-cost units : Lobber Crew, Festering Nurgling, Pistoliers and Hammerers are definately more useful than the Dwarf king. BTW, Lobber Crew may take out Kazador if you clean out the board from all your opponent other's units. gui%C3%B1o.gif

But you are true : we could talk forever without changing each other minds.
