All-in on RLB

By Sybreed, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So, I made this fleet prior to the e-mail from M. Gernes and decided to trash it. Now that we've all read the e-mail, here it is again, in all its... glory? Objectives are a WIP, feel free to recommend something better.

ISD-1/Rhymer alpha
Author: Vhailor

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 398/400

Commander: Admiral Motti

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Planetary Ion Cannon
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

[ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Admiral Motti ( 24 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Rapid Launch Bays ( 6 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
= 155 total ship cost

Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
- Impetuous ( 4 points)
- Agent Kallus ( 3 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Flechette Torpedoes ( 3 points)
= 58 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 25 total ship cost

Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
= 44 total ship cost

4 VT-49 Decimators ( 88 points)
1 Major Rhymer ( 16 points)
1 JumpMaster 5000 ( 12 points)

Eh not sure I see the point in using RLBs on Decimators as they don't activate and can still attack in later turns. But that's me. Dropping them in and getting 12 Blues and a black tossed at a ship followed by an ISD attack will most likely kill it...

actually they can attack after being placed, M. Gernes confirmed it in an e-mail. That's the whole point of the list.

Oh yeah I get that. But they could also activate in the squad phase and shoot anyway is my point. The only real benefit is that it would be all at once with one activation, which could really hurt. Also, since you can only put away 5 with the ISD, who is left out?

The intel ship.

Yeah I get what you mean, but at the same time, there's a chance that they'll focus in the intel ship and engage the rest of the decimators. In that case, acting first and not waiting for the squadron phase can be a big boost in dmg.

You can only hold 5 squadrons

Yeah you'd have to be very careful with your intel ship to make sure it doesn't just die before you can deploy your ships. It could be a nice little one trick pony that allows you to take down something big like an MC80 or opposite ISD.

Token on first turn so it keeps up with the rest.

yeah, hence why I think it's an all-in strategy. It's not something I'd play in a tournament, but in a casual game it could be fun.

Saw something much like this played last Friday. Five squadron attacks does a lot to help the Avenger title.

that's a good point. Might wanna get rid of flechette torpedoes for that...

switching the naked raider to a gozanti would also free up some points

and allow me to get some fighter screen. Yeahhhh....

new take after your suggestions:

You get just as much expected damage from Firesprays and Marrek (though admittedly not as much potential) for cheaper, and you can have a BCC nearby.

the issue turns into what I actually have... and I only own one firespray :S

Ah. Well it may be worth it to trade two VT for a firespray and Maarek and upgrade another to Morna

hmmm.... I guess that's more optimized. Feels less intimidating than the 4 decimators though, but you're probably right.

It's got a more durability and reliable damage. Maarek auto damage, Morna rerolls, bomber crits, accuracies for AS against scatter aces, and brace tokens.

Also non heavy units for engaging enemy bombers

yup, I just can't argue with cold hard facts.

Im looking forward to decimators and Sloane onboard the Avenger

Remember Sloane is non-rogues. if you want to go the Decimator route, don't bothrt with Sloane: Jerry is fantastic for getting that into position. You would be better off with some variant of TIE swarm for Sloane.

But yes, I can confirm that a Sloane Avenger/swarm aces alpha strike is the new hotness. I've done it a couple times now in testing. Pretty much anything you can point that ship at will be dead.

I only put it together because it was the first thing to jump to my mind too, until I was corrected. :)

Just go nuts with TIEs
