Opinion on Deci and Special Forces

By demon3o5z, in X-Wing

My favorite ships in the game right now are the Decimator, and the Tie SF.

I can either go: RAC + Predator/Zeta Specialist + LWF + Title/Zeta Specialist + LWF + Title

or the flip of that: Backdraft + LWF + Title/Quickdraw + LWF + Title/ Patrol Leader

Are people having success with the SF generics now that LWF is out there?

Mostly I have been having good luck with Quickdraw and not much else.

I find SFs to be a great ship against fighter based squads of all factions, but it is not quite enough ship to hang with any of the current Meta lists. Even Rac, sands some upgrades to turret (like other turret ships) and maneuverability (turn the bucket around like all the other good large base ships), cannot hang in the current Meta; she melts in my hands even when decked out right.

Fun? Yes!

Great? Most times no.

Quickdraw/RACLo is solid. I recommend.

RAC without EU just gets shot down too fast in my opinion.

Just wondering do people put Shield Upgrade to get another use from Quick Draw? I don't see him that much, usually only a couple of Zeta Specialists.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau ps8 46

Marksmanship 3

Gunner 5

Mercenary Copilot 2

Weapons Engineer 3

Dauntless 2

Tactical Jammer 1

62

Quick Draw 29

Spec ops training 0

Shield Upgrade 4

Fire Control System 2

Sensor Cluster 2

Draw Their Fire 1

38

this is what Im going to try flying. The shield upgrade is mainly because of the lack of lightweight frame. I am very far behind on expansions, and have only a fraction of options.

Good responses so far. Thanks.

So do we think it would fly better as a two ship list? One decked out RAC and one decked out Quickdraw?

There's a Spanish guy (Nice guy, can't remember his name though) who has been getting some good results in the Dutch scene lately. He plays VI/Gunner/Hotshot/Kylo/Dauntless RAC alongside Adaptabilty/FCS/Primed Thrusters/LWF Quickdraw.

Pretty scary, only problem is that RAC can sometimes just blank out on the 'gunner' shot.

I suppose you try to make up for the lack of Engine Upgrade with blinded pilot crits.

TIE/sf Fighter: · "Quickdraw" (29)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire Control System (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)
Primed Thrusters (1)
VT-49 Decimator: · Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Adaptability (Increase) (0)
Seismic Charges (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
· Kylo Ren (3)
· Emperor Palpatine (8)
· Dauntless (2)

What I am using. It is fun as hell. Working on another list that is a stresser.

Not generally. It's usually more worthwhile to pick up Lightweight Frame.

If you want to have fun and at the same time frustrate someone in a casual game:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Veteran Instincts 1
Hotshot Co-pilot 4
Rebel Captive 3
Gunner 5
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 63
+
"Quickdraw" — TIE/sf Fighter 29
Lone Wolf 2
Sensor Jammer 4
Lightweight Frame 2
Special Ops Training 0
Ship Total: 37

-

- RAC usually shoots first and removes 1-2 Focus tokens

- If they shoot at RAC they take a stress (once per turn)

- If they shoot at QD they will often be without Focus, against Sensor Jammer, LWF and LW - potentially triggering a revenge shot on top of that

Agreed on using LWF on TIE /sf. Have used a couple options on the mod slot for them and found LWF is THE best option for them IMO.
