Loth-Cat and Mouse

By helmickjc21, in Star Wars: Destiny

Question on loth-cat and mouse just wanting clarification on whether or not I am correct. If you I use loth-cat and mouse and i do not have dice in play i cannot use it due to it saying "then" correct?

If it says "then" you have to do whatever comes before, yes.

When your dice suck but their dice is good, time to play a little Loth-cat and mouse. It is a good pauper card but strictly worse than He Doesn't Like You.

Definitely worse than He Doesn't Like You, but I think both cards are about equally painful for Palpatine!

Palpatine's downfall - a loth-cat.

Thanks guys that's what I thought but wanted clarification!

Is it still 'strictly worse' when the better option isn't accessible? It's not like a hero player can ever use 'He Doesn't Like You', after all.

That's called logic and isn't allowed here. It's your first offense so the powers that be will let it slide, this time.

'He doesn't like you' is one of the best cards in the game, IMO.

it just kind of sucks that they've made a card that is clearly worse, which simply adds to the perception (rightly or wrongly), that villain get the better deal most of the time.

Yes, Loth-cat could have been on the same level has he doesn't like you and it would have brought balance to the game. Sadly, Lukas hates sand, it gets every where, inside card selves, scratches up the dice ...

It is in the sense that there are other cards that are closer in power level to HDLY, and you should probably just play those instead.

Negotiation is pretty good. Anticipate can be nasty in certain situations. There's a lot more dice control coming in SoR, too.

Negotiation is a character die only and allows the opponent the choice of removal, they are two very different cards. While the end result is more dice removal. It won't help you if they remove the two blanks but the 3 damage and it's modifier are still left behind.

True, but when Palpatine rolls in his two dice early in the game, playing Negotiation can save your characters from as many as 10 damage... Hero cards are often much more conditional than Villain cards. Heroes don't get the kind of straightforward dice removal that Villains get with cards like Isolation.

I agree about palpatine, but being conditional makes them strictly worse.

If you don't like things being conditional, you could just use grey neutrals, like Dodge, Block, Parry, and Evade

Although these are conditional as to the type of damage removed

And I do. But the point that Heroes have it worse than villains is very clear in the cards they have.

Dodge and block are great, but also two resources, which is a lot tougher than things like 'HDLY'
