The Brave Little Tugboat. Permacloaked Constable Zuvio

By Turbo Toker, in X-Wing

Move over permacloaked HWK, there is a new invisible ship that's going to dominate the meta!

Constable Zuvio with Mindlink, Spacetug Tractor Array, Cloaking Device (Scavenger Crane), Cluster Mines, Pattern Analyzer, and that zero point Scum crew that comes in the C-Roc that allows you to swap illicit upgrades. Only 30 points.

First you cloak up, then you swap out the cloak for Scavenger Crane. And now you can Tractor Beam and Cluster Mine to your heart's content. Your 2 attack dice are worthless anyways, so you may as well stay cloaked all game and just tractor things and drop mines.

Toot toot mother******.

Sabine, Fenn, TLTs and stress still murder you and you cost 30 points and do minimal damage.

It's an interesting build but I have my doubts that it would contribute enough to pay for itself. I'd be interested to try though; I still haven't got my Quad to the table yet.

Are we pretending you can be cloaked without cloaking device?

We're not pretending anything, you can absolutely be cloaked without the cloaking device; this has already been confirmed by the devs.

There's no need to pretend. It's only the card that can remove the token.

Decloaking can also remove the token even after the card has been discarded. Decloaking is a function of having the token, regardless of where you got it from.

I haven't had good experiences with Mindlinked Quads, they want to do reds too frequently. At least I want them to.

In a game where robots can get high on drugs? Yes, absolutely!

As others have said, it's been explicitly confirmed by the devs.

Worth noting however: Frank clarifies how stuff works currently. Currently this trick works. This doesn't mean that there won't be a FAQ on C-ROC release disallowing it (see the 180 they did on Gonk for example)

Sigh...

I'm a little confused. How can you stay permanently cloaked? After reading the card several times it appears that after rolling a focus, you can decloak as normal using the straight 2 template or discard the cloak token and "appear" in place. Or remaing permanently cloaked a function of the yet to be released crew from the C-ROC?

You unequip the card with Vizago crew and never have to roll.

Thanks. I was watching a local game about a year ago and one player had a permanently cloaked HWK. It didn't make much sense to me at the time but I didn't have the expansion and didn't ask.

Would you be able to use Feedback Array when you are cloaked?

If it was a year ago, he was just cloaking once at the start of the game and rolling well.

Nope, no rolling at all.

That is an interesting question - I would assume no, since Feedback requires an opportunity to attack, but I certainly am not sure.

Either misunderstanding, cheating, or at the outside, possibly his opponent clipped the Cloaking Device off with Boba Fett crew.

Probably misunderstanding. The guy "speed reads" cards. Doesn't always get the right meaning.

AFAIK somebody posted a while back an email ruling from Frank that you can, based on analogy with Blinded Pilot.

Yes, based on other rulings about Feedback Array (e.g. you can Feedback while you have Blinded Pilot).

As to the Toot Toot Tugboat from hell, I LOVE everything about this, OP. Beautifully done.

"Dominate the meta" : We have said this for so many card and we all know what really happen....

30 pts for a ship that will be quickly destroy :

4/5 green dices : good but with only 1 or 2 focus you will fall (greendice's god love mockery)

No shield : vulnerable against critical hit. (hi mangler cannon)

And with ps7, he will have trouble against ace like miranda !

A good combo for casual by the way

Wow, I love how a ship with 5HP, 5 Agility and 2 Focus per turn is considered easy to kill garbage these days.

Back in Waves 1-3, that would have been god-mode levels of efficiency, and even by TIE Phantom Wave 4 standards it would have been great for only 30pts.

Power creep much?

It's doable. Pair him with Ventress (config of your choice) and 2 x Z95s with BMST. Focusing on Zuvio could take time and destroying the Z-95s create extra cluster mines. Under the right circumstances, you could even decloak and contribute throught he primary attack as well. It's not fool proof, but it could be fun.

Yes because of "meta" what did you expect ?

Autoturret blaster, sabine crew, feedback array .... We have more auto-damage now than in the past ! Low hp ship have more trouble these day !
