Sadness in the Aturi Cluster

By Kleeg005, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Second Fighter Group, Derp Squadron suffered a tragic defeat last night. We ran the Miner's Strike mission for HotAC, and while we destroyed all of the cargo emplacements, the two ships who were tasked with escaping the scenario play area to fulfill that portion of the Rebel Victory requirements were *both* destroyed on the last turn before they would have escaped. That frakking AI is just too **** smart sometimes, sees right through our cunning strategies.

This is our second time playing through HotAC, and our second time accumulating three Imperial Victory Points for a loss. We are now going to run a pair homebrewed Base Evacuation missions - the Rebellion is in full retreat from the Aturi Cluster.

However, we haven't give n up on the sector just yet! We are calling in some ruthless piratical mercenaries for our next attempt. Mercenaries of the Aturi Cluster, earn your pay! And maybe run a few raids on legitimate shipping, on the side.

Holy crap, how have I never heard of this! I want to give this a chance as soon as possible! Gotta scrounge up some players, though... and some folks with larger collections than I that don't mind us using them for the game...

Drink deep this epic, fan-made, fully cooperative campaign against a stunning "AI" running the Imperial fighters. Gain experience over several missions and customize your ship with more upgrades and abilities than are allowed in Standard Play and become, literally, Heroes of the Aturi Cluster .

Oodles of fun. Hours of play. Get on it.

What the hell that sounds AWESOME! Do you have to pay? And do you have to play with friends?

It is a free, fan-made, downloadable set of pdf's. It is better with friends, but I have played solo when the addiction was too strong.

The guys at the Shuttle Tydirium podcast go into a lot of detail on both HotAC and the FFG missions from the expansions, and there is a dedicated Facebook page that's pretty good.

We played the first of two Escape from the Aturi Cluster missions last night and lived to tell about it. I will post pictures and a report as soon as I can, as well as plans to revise the mission, since this was as much playtesting as it was running the mission.

My group is currently playing it and we love it, yes the AI can be a fricking nightmare some times, but overall we are having a lot of fun playing it. :)

Heroes has really revitalized the X-Wing presence at the game store I get to the most frequently. We has so many people lined up to play that we started a second campaign. The first group has only a few missions left, and the second group is just about half way. It does take a bunch of ships though... especially to run two sessions at the same time. You can proxy / substitute stuff all you want so if you don't have all the ships just put something out there that's the same size and you're good to go.

We have 4 campaigns going right now, We have both rebel, scum, and empire campaigns going. scum vs scum/empire AI. Rebel vs empire AI, empire vs rebel AI
