I'm sad this topic sort of died. Having said that when would you expect the next season of Store Championships to start up?

May Next Year.

Store Championships run from Mid-May to End of August.

Regionals take over for the end of the Year, November through April, basically.

Then Worlds in May.

Then back to Store champs.

**Nationals can fit in anywhere. Continental Championships are generally fixed-dates.

As always, super helpful. TY Dras

Do we know when regional sites/dates will be announced?

Hopefully soon.

But there's no actual indication of that yet. I make the assumption that it will be after the Store Championship season ends, as that allows FFG / International Distributors to get their feedback reports on which stores ran good Championships and attempt to award them appropriately.

last year, Regionals started in November. Because of that, I wouldn't expect an announcement until late September at the earliest.

FFG has unfortunately deleted their direct link of locations that they had for 2016.

I'll see if I can find it elsewhere.

EDIT THE EDIT:

Totally found it

PLEASE NOTE FOR ANYONE LOOKING QUICKLY - THESE ARE THE 2016 LOCATIONS AND ARE NOT CURRENT TO THE UPCOMING 2017 SEASON

Other pertinent dates to see:

Last updated on 2016-10-24 12:00:00 -0600

The 2016 Regional Championship (May Track) tournament season runs from November 12, 2016

If I recall they put the original posting up, and then modified it - so the Regional Announcement was earlier in october, but still, it was October.

EDIT; Yep, October 12th

EDIT: I did. Well, I didn't. This is for the Regionals previous... This had "More" Locations to make up for the lack of Store Championships for that year (as we'd recentl;y changed over to the May/November Track system).

Ugh that list is rough. i know it's last years but still, if it looks similar this year I'm looking at a 3 hour drive to the nearest.

CHECK AGAIN

Lol well, they added an IL store which is cool(STL is right on the MO / IL border) but it's near Chicago which is 5 hours away :). TY though Dras, as always you're amazing.

3 hours was about right for my options last year. From Scranton PA, I could go to Long Island, Pittsburgh, or MD. At least I had 3 possible shots at a regional.

Looks like I could have one 2 1/2 hours away in Atlanta and another 4 hours away in Raleigh. Hopefully I can make both. Wish SC had one I'd love to go to 3.

There's no confirmations yet.. But basically, the way its intended to work is this:

Store Championships are open to any store in Good Standing, that wishes to Order a kit. The kits are significantly more expensive than the quarterly tournament kits, so that takes some out - but for the most part, any store in good standing can run it.

Regionals are much more restricted. FFG (and the exclusive international distributors) are supposed to make a judgement call not only on how many regionals to have, but placing the regionals in stores who have good reputations based on ordering, player volume and event feedback.

It doesn't always happen. And this will be the first set of Regionals that have followed a store championships in some time, so they should actually have that information to make judgement calls on this time - last time, we went Regionals - Worlds - Regionals with no Store Champs in between because of the track changeover to the May Worlds Track...

So who knows... Regionals *will* be limited in the US and Canada, as they provide a Reserved Seat at Worlds. No assistance in getting there or staying there, but at the very least, a reserved seat to claim so you don't have to crapshoot on the entry form... But because of that, they're not going to have 50 regionals in North America - it'll be a measured amount to keep seats open for general entry.
